With the tenth pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the Tennessee Titans select Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio St.
Next we address the #11 pick in the draft - The San Diego Chargers are on the clock.
#11 San Diego Chargers. Needs - LT, G, CB. The Norv Turner era is over in San Diego. Oddly enough it was the offensive side of the ball, Turners' area of expertise, that doomed the Chargers in 2012. The offensive line was a major part of the problem. Only the Jaguars (50), Packers (51), and Cardinals (58) gave up more sacks than the Chargers (49). The Chargers finished an abysmal 27th in rushing yards, while averaging only 3.6 yards per carry (31st). San Diego was 24th in passing and 20th in scoring, averaging just under 22 points per game. Phillip Rivers regressed for the second year in a row as the talent around him continued to erode. The defensive side of the ball was a different story, however. The Chargers, who run a 3-4, finished 6th in the NFL in rushing defense, tied for 11th in sacks with 38, 11th in turnovers with 28, and 16th in points allowed at just under 22 points per game. The pass defense ranked 18th when all was said and done. The Chargers need help along their O-line, and their most pressing need is at LT, where Jared Gaither is not the answer. After another injury riddled season in which he only played 4 games, it is time for San Diego to replace him. The Guard play was bad too, as evidenced by the high sack total and poor rushing numbers produced by the team. The Chargers should look to add youth to an aging secondary in this draft, as Quentin Jammer will be 34 in 2013. The depth at NT could be improved as well. So does San Diego address their porous O-line, or do they keep adding to an already talented defense?
