The votes are in and with the eighth pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills select Mike Glennon, QB, NC St.
Next we address the #9 pick in the draft - The New York Jets are on the clock.
#9 New York Jets. Needs - OLB, S, WR. The Jets were a complete mess in 2012. While the defense continued to battle, it aged before our eyes, and an infusion of youth in the LB corps and an upgrade at Safety is seriously needed. The offense was a joke. The Jets never developed an offensive identity, nor any plan for using their new toy, Tim Tebow. Sanchez was arguably the worst QB in the NFL in 2012. It took the Cards a group effort at the position to be so bad, Sanchez did it on his own. Injuries were a factor. Of course, the offensive coaching staff was terrible. The offensive staff (pun intended) is gone, but the Jets are stuck with Sanchez. The Jets ranked 30th in pass offense in 2012, and 28th in scoring. They did manage to finish 12th in rushing yards, but only 5 teams averaged fewer yards per rush than the Jets 3.8 yards per carry. Maybe the new coaches on the offensive side of the ball can instill an offensive identity and bring the offense to respectability in 2013. While the Jets D finished a surprising 2nd in the NFL in pass defense, the team was 26th against the run. Which begs the age old question - were they really that good against the pass, or did teams not have to throw that much because they were able to run the ball down their throats? The Jets D only managed 30 sacks on the year, which left them tied for 25th in the NFL. They finished the season ranked 20th in both points allowed, giving up over 23 per game, and in turnovers forced, with 23 on the year. Not good for a team supposedly built on defense and a strong running game. Barkevious Mingo has been projected to the Jets in many mocks to play the OLB postion in their 3-4 and add a much needed pass rush. Te'o would provide youth at one of the ILB positions. Do they bolster their run game with Warmack? The Jets have several attractive options still available. Who do they take?
