From what we can see to-date, the 2014 draft is shaping up to be one that is loaded with talent in the first round. Many highly ranked underclassmen that could have declared for this years draft are coming back for their senior seasons. The 2014 draft was looking good before this development. It now looks spectacular.
The Rams already have two first round picks in the 2014 draft. They also have the 16'th and 22'nd picks in this years draft. Would the team be better off if we traded one of this years first round picks for a first round pick in the 2014 draft plus a second or third round pick in this years or next years draft?? That would leave us with only one first round pick this year but we would then have THREE first round picks in 2014. A draft that is loaded with top level talent.
Here are some of the names that could be part of that first round next year:
Jake Matthews - OT
Taylor Lewan - OT
Cyrus Kouandjio - OT
C.J. Mosley - LB
Kyle Van Noy - LB
Shayne Skov - LB
Sammy Watkins - WR
Jordan Matthews - WR
Marquise Lee - WR
Jadevean Clowney - DE
Johnny Manziel - QB
Austin Sefarian-Jenkins - TE
Will Sutton - DT
Anthony Johnson - DT
Anthony Barr - LB
Tajh Boyd - QB
Derek Carr - QB
Stephen Tuitt - DE
Aaron Murray - QB
Louis Nix - DT
Teddy Bridgewater - QB
Bradley Roby - CB
This list is by no means exhaustive. However, you get the idea. That is a lot of talent.
Ultimately, our goal is to reach and win the Super Bowl. When Fisher and Snead took over I figured we had a three year plan to reach the Super Bowl. Is our goal best served by attempting to get three first round picks in the 2014 draft? Please vote in the poll and share your thoughts.
