HEY MY FELLOW RAMS FANS
With the rumor of Rob Ryan might becoming our DC brings me to my topic for today.
can the rams run the 3-4 defense and be effective and my opinion is yes and here's Why. we have the personal to do so Long and Quinn could easily make the switch to 3-4 OLB Langford was a 3-4 DE with Miami and Brockers played in the 3-4 at LSU. Scouts also stated that Brockers could play 3-4 DE but if the rams made this switch they would have to draft 2 pieces in order for this defense to be good if not great a nose tackle and a middle linebacker. So who would be the best options for us you say.
1. John Jenkins- Big 6'3 360 pound nose tackle could clog up 2 or even 3 gaps. He kind of reminds me of Vince Wilfork with the way he uses his hands and he's strong at the point of attack. He also plays in a 3-4 scheme at Georgia. Hs's also Able to penetrate and cause tackles for losses and sacks cause he does have some pass rushing skills
2.Khaseem Greene - We already have a tackling machine in JL but in a 3-4 scheme you will need that fast side line to side linebacker with good coverage skills. Khaseem Greene is a former safety so his coverage skills are there he's fast and tackles well in open space but what will make him stand out is his instincts. He just has that blood hound nose for the football and by putting him in the middle of the field will give him a even better veiw and chance to stop the run which is what he does best
I have no doubt this could be done but here's my concern. long and Quinn have never played OLB or played in a 3-4 defense (not even in college) and the outside linebackers will have the most responsibilities of getting to the QB. The lack of experience could hurt the team because. The secondary is at it best when we can put pressure on the QB but and that is a huge but (NO HOMO) if we Decide to switch to a 3-4 Scheme i think it could work because We already have some key pieces to do so.
so let me know what you think until next post i'm out
