Scott Wells Injury: Struggles Build For Rams Offensive Line

Stay connected for news and updates

St. Louis Rams center Scott Wells left the game with a foot injury. His return is questionable, putting more stress on an offense that desperately needs to pick up yards, chew up clock time and put up points.

Robert Turner replaced Wells at center, having served in his stead through most of camp and half the preseason this year. Turner was in the game as the starting left guard. Rookie Rokevious Watkins replaced Turner on the left side.

The Rams offense has struggled, constantly finding themselves in third-and-long and failing to convert. Quarterback Sam Bradford has been less than sharp in those situations, taking an ugly sack from Ndamukong Suh in the third period after the Lions tied the game.

Offensive line depth was a question for the Rams heading into the season, and Wells' injury could put undue stress on the unit. Watkins already has incurred a penalty ... one of seven for the Rams so far.
