Yes things are a bit concerning at DT right now... to say the least.
But it may not be that bad this particular weekend.
A positive I think we could fool ourselves with has to do with a healthy Mr. Cudjo.
His strength is penetration (Brockers not so much yet), and he seems to have made a decent “I belong in the NFL” statement this preseason, being pretty active and causing a good amount of chaos, right?
The opponent this week, Detroit, tends to pass more than run. I don’t have any statistics on the subject, but it seems to be common knowledge that they rarely run.
At this point in time, Cudjo may be the more valuable & productive pass rusher compared to Brockers.
So, with finger pointing at Stafford, I say “Sick ‘em Cudjo!” Here’s your opportunity to shine!
Now if and when they do run, how bad could it be?
Detroit’s OLine isn’t too imposing on the ground, is it?
The most dangerous runner, Jahvid Best, won’t be on the field.
The fragile Smith is capable of making plays, but might re-tweak his ankle that he rolled last week. I am not familiar with the rest, except for Mikel LeSoure, who I would have loved to have drafted minus the injuries and off-field issues, but he doesn’t really know what he is doing yet.
So, maybe it’s not the end of the world if Brockers sits this one out?
Now it does hurt that Conrath will be less than ready, affecting depth, but
I don't see it as the end of the world... hopefully ;)
Any other positives to find out there?
Oh and p.s. a healthy Scott wouldn't be much of a help anyway, so his absence isn't a big deal to me, even if we are short on depth right now.
