Hello again TST! Week 1 of the regular season is in the books! There were some great games. Some highlights: The much ballyhooed rookie QB class had mixed debuts. The best: RG3 obviously. Holy crap, the guy can play! The worst: Brandon Weeden. Well when he got stuck underneath the US flag, you knew it was going to be a long day for the old man. The game said a lot more about the Eagles than anything else. I still can't believe they paid $100 million to Michael Vick to be sucktastic like that. He just isn't a franchise quarterback, he's a gimmick like Tebow with better press. Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck had their shaky moments but showed well given the caliber of defenses they were facing. Ryan Tannehill played to the level I expected out of him (not very well) so that was that. The return of one Peyton Manning was a great moment (thank the Lord he isn't in the AFC South any more, because I'm tired of him abusing the Titans). We will finally see the unleashing of both Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco this year. Julio Jones is an absolute monster, that is all. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are marvels that have stood the test of time. The advancement of modern medicine got a whole lot of love this past week with AP, Jamaal Charles, and Tony Moeaki all playing within mere months of having devastating knee injuries. This will be a full time weekly feature from here on out until the Super Bowl. As usual, you can ask me anything from what's my favorite type of car, color, celebrity crush, ideal woman, college football, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, draft talk, and everything in between. I'll try my best to answer them in a prompt manner as they come in. I'm also taking suggestions on how to improve this feature of TST as the time flies by. My thoughts on the Rams game after the jump (having NFL Sunday Ticket and gamemix is awesome). JUMP!

Offense - Bradford played relatively well given the circumstances he was facing (aka Mr. Suh and company). It also helped that Matthew Stafford gift wrapped turnovers as well. Snead and Fisher's failure to secure more OL depth has reared its ugly head again like I predicted it would. For this glaring failure, I fully expect that Bradford revert into Captain Checkdown once again. The good news is, well there are quality QBs in the draft next year. I feel bad for Steven Jackson at this point, stuck behind a poor injury riddled OL and playing for a coach who loves to run RBs into the ground. But hey, it's not my money that Snead is spending wildly on defense and hoping for a rare miracle on offense.

Defense - They played very well, beyond my expectations. There are some solid pieces in place for this defense to have a moderately successful season. Janoris Jenkins may end up being the steal of the draft at the pace he's going. Cortland Finnegan restored the F to his last name after not getting the F beat out of him by Megatron. Although if Stafford hadn't gone all Weeden on us, the game wouldn't have been close.

Overall - The Rams played a very solid gameplan of baiting Stafford into several turnovers, which allowed them to stay in the game. Fisher, for all his misgivings, is a massive upgrade at coach. The lack of depth everywhere showed up eventually as the Lions came back to win after pulling their heads of their behinds. It will be a long season if the OL isn't fixed. I like the pieces the Rams have on defense.
