Defensive linemen have taken a slight hit for the St. Louis Rams on the injury front lately. Defensive tackle Darell Scott had arthroscopic knee surgery recently, according to Jim Thomas, and will miss the rest of the preseason and some time into the regular season. Defensive end Eugene Sims got a good medical report when doctors confirmed that he does not have a high ankle sprain.

Sims will be out a week or two. He has been favored to make the final roster. That is still likely, unless Vernon Gholston suddenly finds his groove in preseason play this week.

The road to the final roster is tougher for Scott. He was already a long shot, with Jermelle Cudjo, Matt Conrath and Trevor Laws in front of him on the depth chart. Now, he will likely have to try and catch on with another team later in the season, once he's healed, or again next spring.
