Here is the rest of the defensive line!
2011 - DT's
Fred Robbins:
15 G, 29 tackles, 1.0 sacks, 0 FF, 0 INT, 1 PDF
Justin Bannan:
15 G, 31 tackles, 0.0 sacks, 1 FF, 0 INT, 3 PDF
Gary Gibson:
16 G, 16 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 0 FF, 0 INT, 2 PDF
Darell Scott:
13 G, 18 tackles, 0.0 sacks, 0 FF, 0 INT, 0 PDF
Last year the position of defensive tackle was arguably the worst position on the team. Fred Robbins had a career year in 2010, and seen his play rapidly decline just 1 year after. The addition of Justin Bannan changed nothing. Gibson was still a solid rotational player. Darell Scott still hasn't gotten it together and has had a minimal impact since being drafted.
2012 - Projections
Kendall Langford:
49 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 1 FF, 0 INT, 1 PDF
Michael Brockers:
43 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 FF, 0 INT, 3 PDF
Trevor Laws:
22 tackles, 2 sacks, 0 FF, 0 INT, 1 PDF
Jermelle Cudjo:
9 tackles, 0 sacks, 0 FF, 0 INT, 1 PDF
I am expecting BIG things out of this years defensive tackles. We immediately went after free agent DT Kendall Langford who was actually a DE in the Dolphins 3-4 scheme. He was extremely productive in his first 3 years with his production dropping a little bit this past year. He's going to be a huge addition at UT to help collapse the pocket, stop the run, and free up LB's. Michael Brockers is the newly drafted rookie (#14 round 1). He is massive at 6'5 322lbs. He is the NT and will free up James Laurinaitis to make more plays. His presence will be huge in helping to stop the run. Laws was also signed as a FA. He is going to have a decent impact rotating in and coming off the bench. He's been a terrific role player for the Eagles. Cudjo comes back from the IR and doesn't receive much playing time.
"The Edge"
I believe the 2012 DT position has the edge BY FAR! I think we can be a top 15-top 10 defensive line this upcoming year. The additions of Laws, Brockers, and Langford will help with stopping the run immensely. I am looking forward to this line piling up on sacks and stopping the run.
