Kentucky Derby 2012: Post Position Analysis

Stay connected for news and updates

Yes, this is a bit of a diversion from our usual scope of coverage here at TST. A big diversion, but since I'm the editor, I'm pulling rank and posting this for all my fellow degenerate horse racing enthusiasts. I love horse racing, though I do not follow the sport close enough to breeze through a racing form.

This is my attempt to catch up on things ahead of Saturday's Kentucky Derby. Matt Gardner from SB Nation's horsey blog, And Down The Stretch They Come, breaks down the post positions of the horses racing this weekend. Best of all, it's a video, which makes it so much easier to consume for the MTV generation, which needs information parsed out in six-second intervals.

For even more Derby excitement, I highly recommend you head over to Grantland and read Hunter S. Thompson's original piece of Gonzo Journalism, "The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved."

There's also a vid with Ufford on the ultimate mint julep recipe.
