One thing is for sure, the beard is back in pro sports this year. I have no idea where the trend traces from, but it was back in full force at Rams Park last week when the St. Louis Rams had a round of OTAs. Incumbent starting right guard Harvey Dahl took home the prize for the most intimidating beard of the week.
As you can see from the photo above, Dahl's pelt offered a little shelter from the sun for heat weary rookies.
Dahl's beard is unmatched on the team, but rookie defensive tackle Michael Brockers comes close with his chin strap style beard. Headed by Jeff Fisher and who floats between a mustache and a full goatee, the 2012 St. Louis Rams may come to be known for their facial hair.
Hopefully, it has some kind of Samson effect on the team's fortunes.
