Just went back to compare the CVC's Dome proposal to the Rams' Dome proposal. The CVC is extremely general in what they want to do. Makes their proposal seem entirely inexpensive. Hold up, inexpensive is the wrong word. CHEAP. Poor quality. Worth little. Undeserving of value. Okay. There we go. For example: "The CVC is now proposing to update the concession fronts to present a more professional look and potentially invite additional spending through more cooking options." Okay?? Or how about this one: "The bowl can be further enlivened through the introduction of clerestory natural light with blackout capability using operable shades. The glazed panels would introduce light from two ends or sides of the dome." Arguably the Ram's top problem and CVC's biggest piece of the proposal is a little more than 30 words long.
The Rams' Proposal, on the other hand, includes specifics, that, of course, would add up to be more expensive. For lighting alone, the Rams have 9 finely detailed bullet points for interior lighting and 3 other bullet points for exterior lighting. Just a small example.
I could go on. But you could take a quick glance at the two proposals and realize the differences I'm talking about between the two.
The CVC has zero, ZERO, intentions to ever bring anything other than regular/playoff football games to the dome. I know the CVC has to submit a low, "reasonable" proposal, but this thing is complete crap. The Rams' proposal is entirely capable and clearly first tier. The Rams did their homework and found ways to improve the dome, make it top notch, and do it without costing a ridiculous amount of money (is $500 to $700 million, possibly more, really that ridiculous?). Their plan has visions that allow other exciting sporting events, like a super bowl, like NCAAB events, to take place within the dome. For heaven's sake, just accept the damn thing. I don't care if I have to pay for a portion of it. Don't skimp out on this. The Dome CAN'T get better by putting less into it.
