Whenever I see NFL power rankings, I usually avoid them. For too long, it's been too easy to know where the St. Louis Rams will sit on a list of 32 teams ranked in order of their effectiveness. Scroll down to the bottom to find the same old sorry Rams. Be a little surprised if they claimed the 31st spot on the list, rather than the last one.
We rolled out a new set of post-draft power rankings at SB Nation and the Rams have moved. Move up to be precise.
The latest rankings have the Rams in the 30th spot. VICTORY!
30. St. Louis Rams (2-14, LW: 31): Tough to rank them so low because I loved their draft, and the fact that they have two 1st round picks in each of the next two years. But I'm not sure if this team will immediately be that much better than last year. It could take some time.
Baby steps. Jeff Fisher took over a barren roster, Cleveland-esque if you will. Since the January hiring of Fisher, the Rams have made more progress as an organization than they did since the 1980s. Let's face it, the GSOT years were more of an exception than anything else, a fortunate turn of events because the ownership signed off the Dick Vermeil hire.
I don't expect this team to sit in the bottom third of the rankings for long.
