The Rams have added a new coaching staff and a new GM. The first draft under the new regime, has been completed. Offseason workouts have started with expectation and optimism. I do not know what the new look Rams will bring, but it looks promising. Some interesting names will be on the FA market in 2013. IMO; it is never to early for assessing players that could help the team. RB, OT, and LB are positions that have major potential free agent talent. After the jump, I will list a few 2013 free agents, that could matchup well with team need.
Wide Receivers:
1. Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs 6'2 221, Age: 27.
A physical wide receiver with the size to match. Bowe is a tough matchup for single coverage. He has been consistent and productive. His reception numbers dropped, along with his touchdowns in 2011. Several factors can be attributed to the dropoffs: The running game was decimated by injuries. The starting QB was also injured. Kansas City's top WR draft pick was out with an injury as well. This led to Bowe being the only true offensive threat. Even under these circumstances, Bowe still had over 1100 yards in receptions.
2011: 81 recs, 1159, yards, 14.3 ypc, 5 td's.
2010: 72 recs, 1162 yards, 16.6 ypc, 15 td's
2.Greg Jennings, Green Bay, 5'11 195, Age: 28
A veteran WR with Super Bowl experience. In 2011 Jennings had: 67 recs, 949 yards, 14.2 ypc, and 9 td's. These numbers are impressive considering the abundance of receiving talent on The Packers.
Running Backs:
1. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina, 5'11 235. Age: 25
A powerful and productive RB. Stewart is an adept receiver as well.
2011 Rushing: 142 att, 761 yards, 5.4 ypc, with 4 td's.
2011 Receiving: 47 recs, 413 yards, and 1 td.
2. Felix Jones, Dallas 6'0 200. Age: 24
An explosive player better utilized on the perimeter and in space. A good receiver who can be used on special teams as a return man.
3. Matt Forte, Chicago 6'1 221 yards. Age: 26
The divide between Forte and Chicago is developing into a chasm. This split may allow Forte to become available in 2013. When healthy; Forte is a dual threat as a runner and receiver.
2011 Rushing: 203 att, 997 yards, and 3 td's
2011 Receiving: 52 rec, 490 yards, and 1 td.
Offensive Tackles:
1. Jake Long, Miami 6'7 317. Age: 27
2. Jeff Otah, Carolina 6'6 330. Age: 26
3. Sebastian Volmer, Patriots 6'8 315. Age: 28
Linebackers:
1. Anthony Spencer, Dallas 6'3 261. Age 28
2011: 51 tkls, 4 FF, 1 pd, 6 sacks.
2. Aaron Curry, Oakland 6'2 250. Age: 26
2011: 80 tkls, 4 funble recoveries, 8 pd, and 2 td's
Secodary:
1. Jairus Byrd, Buffalo 6'0 205. Age: 25
A ballhawking FS who plays with a great deal of aggression.
2011: 75 tkls, 3 int's, 1 td, 8 pd, 3 FF, 1 sack.
2. Aqib Talib, Tampa Bay 6'2 202. Age: 26
A talented and troubled CB.
2011: 31 tkls, 2 int's, 2 td's, 1 FF, 11 pd
