How much would you really care?

If you're anything like me, during your reading time on this fantastic site called TST, you have been well informed on all things Rams! In the course, you have been kept up to date on the ongoing negotiations for a top tier stadium upgrade to the Ed Jones Dome with the city of St. Louis (CVC) and the St. Louis Rams. I am gonna stir the pot, and ask a very real question to the fans of the team:

Would you really care what the stadium looked like if we were winning? Also, would the city or anyone else here in St. Louis disagree with the Rams proposal if we were winning?

I would say no and no.

Although we have been seeing a lot of losing here lately, I remember a team referred to as "The Greatest Show on Turf". I remember my grandfather taking me to some games and seeing the crowd get loud! I remember how complete strangers would be hugging in the stands while watching some of the most electrifying plays any of us had ever seen. No one gave a damn about the stadium, the lack of sunlight or anything else! Pass me some nachos and a some fruit punch! I was good with that and I was just a kid. We were winning!

Even when we would lose, the Dome was still filled up. Why? Because we had great product on the field and we were competitive. Teams would lose sleep over us, flat out. Now, they just have laid us flat.

So here we are, starring at the 2012 offseason, wide eyed and optimistic - trying to keep the hype down to a minimum - while looking at the draft, free agent moves the front office is making and are hopeful for a better than 2-14 season. While we are watching this all play out, let's keep a focus on what all fans want - WINS! So if anyone over in Earth City is wondering why so many fans have expressed displeasure over potentially building and paying a large portion of the total cost of a stadium that cannot be filled due to a "losing" status, there you have it. Win more, you'll get more. Enough said.
