The St. Louis Rams have signed free agent wide receiver Michael Campbell. Term of the contract weren't disclosed, but I can't think it's more than a "Look-see" signing. Campbell was waived by the New York Jets March 14, 2012. During his time with the Jets, his only claim to fame was what you see in the photo - That's right, he dropped a pass in the end zone during a pre-season game against the Houston Texans.
The former Temple University wide out had 45 receptions for 724 yards and 6 touchdown in 2010. His career totals with the Temple Owls show he caught 83 passes for 1253 yards and 9 touchdowns.
In the video after the jump, I saw a possession type receiver who catches the ball well, but against his body most of the time. I didn't see much in the way of a YAC threat. He does have good size, at 6' 1" and 203 lbs. At his Temple University Pro-Day, he ran a 4.5 second 40 yard dash, and posted a 35" vertical jump.
He strikes me as a slot receiver? The crowd a the #3 WR position is getting interesting. Campbell more than likely owes his chance with the Rams to offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. Schotty may like the thought of bringing in a player who's familiar with his offense since they both spent 2011 with the Jets?
