$450 Million dollar is a lot of money to ask somebody to pay. Especially since it only costed St. Louis $280 Million dollars to construct the Edward Jones to begin with. The question is not whether St. Louis should pay but why? As of 2011, Edward Jones uses Astro Turf for its surface. Eversince Rams entered the Edward Jones they have been plagued by injuries. Some of them were minor and others were major, but all of them effected the level of our play. Were all the injuries cause by the hard surface of artificial turf, I doubt it, but here is an article that talks about injuries effected by turf.

"Physicians and trainers began to notice that players were injured with a greater frequency on the artificial turf. These injuries included anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, concussions, and ankle sprains."

What injuries have we dealt with over the past couple of seasons?

Another study states, "While there were 13.8 injuries per 100 session hours on turf and only 8.4 per 100 on natural grass, the type of injury matters."

Below is a chart of Adjusted Games Lost that I compiled from various sources. I couldn't find any data before 2008. I hope this gives you an idea of where we are when it comes to injury. I do hope that this will give St. Louis residents a reason to pay up so that we can have a healthy team focused on winning. If not for any other reason, the rams should want this to save on all the salaries they've lost to injury.
