So, let me say right up front that my daughter attends Texas A&M and we love the school. Also let me say that I put paragraph breaks in the text, but the program has outsmarted me and now it looks like the longest run on sentence in history. My English teacher, Gladys Stewart would be appalled!
In 2009, the Aggies began to put Sherman's 85 plays per game of offense into effect and played 500 ball for the first time since the R.C. Slocum era.
Jerrod Johnson was selected pre-season all conference before the 2010 season. I guess they didn't know he needed shoulder surgery.
After a couple of huge leads lost, A&M made the switch to Tannehill, who reeled off 6 wins including a dominating performance against Oklahoma and a solid performance against Nebraska as well as a controlling performance over Texas. A&M lost to LSU in the Cotton Bowl.
A&M was famously selected as a pre-season #9. They went 3-0 versus lesser competition and finally imploded in the second half versus Ok. St. losing a first half 20 point lead in the process. Arkansas was next and similar problems occurred. Big half time lead, blown by an Aggie D that could barely get players on the field because these offenses didn't substitute. Missouri and K-State were also heartbreaking losses.
The reason I mention these losses is that Tannehil put up over 35 points in each of the losses. For a half in each of these games, he was amazing. The other halves, not so much. His downfield style led to some turnovers and he seemed in a hurry to continue putting up touchdowns instead of managing the gsme. He was poor versus Texas and Oklahoma.
This is all a long way of saying, that Tannehill can play anywhere. The Brownies know this as well as the Fins as well as the
Chiefs and
Bills and
Eagles. Many Scenarios exist where all 4 of the highly skilled 1st rounders we covet may be available to us if any of these teams want the Aggie.
The
Browns, Eagles and
Dolphins all have offenses that will fit Tannehill's skills. I have a feeling that Shurmur will really like the way this kid plays.
Scenario #1 is the Browns take Tannehill at #4. This puts TRich and MoClai in play for us at 6.
Scenario #2 has a team trading up to #6 to ace the Fins, putting us in prime Decastro land wit extra picks!
Scenario #3 has the Fins moving up to our spot to avoid being swooped--we get JB and picks.
Scenario #4 has the Browns or Vikes trading out of #3 or #4 freeing up Trich, Kalil or Claiborn. Yay.
If Clevland takes Trich and still wants Tannehil, They would have to give us their #21 and probably a second and a third. More quality bodies for us!
So, "don't be hatin' when you should be appreciatin'". Keep talking up Tannehill, it give us more and more to think about. It would be the most boring draft of all time if it went by the current consensus.
