Was it really the ALL players fault????
All of us as Ram fans have been extremely disappointed over all the injuries that took a devistating toll on us in 2010 just as it seemed our rookie QB SB was about to help us win a division title and take us who knows how far in the playoffs. Then in 2011, it took just the first game of the season for the entire year to go downhill and never turn around. As far as I can remember, I have never seen a year of injuries hit the rams as it did in 2011. I was just wondering how much of this was really the cause of the coaching staff and not so much the players themselves. I know we had a shortened year but during the past two years it seems that conditioning had to be a contributing factor as well as playing time for starters in pre-season being almost non-existent. The rash of injuries just seemed to grow over each year that Spags and his staff had control of the team. I understand not wanting to have starters injured in pre-season, but why have a pre-season if over a 4 game stretch, your starters play less than 40 downs in 4 games? You can have all the "simulated action" during training camp, but nothing takes the place of game hits. I can only hope that Fish does not "baby" his starters the way Spags did and then we end up with another dozen or so on the IR.
With Payton out for the entire year and Spags probably calling the shots, it will be interesting to see if Spags changes their training routine. And if he does, how many Saints players go on IR. We all had high hopes that Spags after leading the Giants D to a super bowl victory would leave his mark with the Rams before his contract was up. But who would of thought that the mark he was going to leave would be stitches. Regardless of what kind of year the Saints have, I am glad Spags is gone!
