This is one option that has not really been discussed here. Previously it was pretty unanimous that the Vikings were going to pick Kalil. Now it appears they're trying to drum up interest in trading the pick. The reason being that they need to improve their secondary and drafting Claiborne fixes that. Could this be a direct message to Snead or other GMs?
Would we consider moving up to draft Kalil? The scenario could very well be that Minnesota selects Kalil and Claiborne falls to #6. We'd take him but should we consider trading him and perhaps our 3rd round pick for Kalil. Not many teams could compete with that type of offer.
Is it worth it? Kalil seems to be one of the only players whose stock isn't falling. We've also already signed a franchise corner with Finnegan and so Claiborne isn't a big need. Even if Blackmon were to fall to #6 a lot of people are arguing that he isn't worthy of a top ten pick like Julio Jones and AJ Green were. And Trent Richardson isn't a great fit either... yet.I guess it depends if a 3rd round pick is enough. I know as a Rams fan I think that Kalil would be better than any of Claiborne/Blackmon/Richardson + whoever is available in the 3rd.
Thoughts?
