Why the Rams should want Richardson over Blackmon

The Rams hold the #6 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. It is starting to irritate me that everyone is dying to have Justin Blackmon. Justin Blackmon is good, but not Top 10 pick good. If both Blackmon and Trent Richardson are both still sitting at #6 (a scenario that I know is likely impossible.) I would take Richardson in a heart beat over Blackmon. Richardson is the prototypical NFL running back, with speed close to Adrian Peterson and a physical presence like Darren McFadden, why wouldn't you want this guy on your team? I understand that the Rams need a wide receiver. If DX could stay healthy, I would say he easily has the potential to be a number one receiver, but I know that is a big if. If Jeff Fisher can get the most out of guys like Brandon Gibson, Greg Salas, and Austin Pettis, then the Rams problems at receiver aren't that bad. If Lance Kendricks could return to preseason form, which I believe he can, and Michael Hoomanawanui can stay healthy, then they have a great core of receiving tight ends. Keep in mind the Rams still have a strong chance of re signing Danny Amendola and are also getting Mark Clayton back. Those were Sam Bradford's favorite targets before they fell to injuries. Jeff Fisher is very much a run first coach. I think Steven Jackson will bode well with his system, but Steven Jackson isn't a rookie, he is a seasoned veteran. The Rams will need another back to split time with Jackson to ease some of the load off of him. Not a Cadillac Williams, or a Jerious Norwood, but someone that can actually split the time with him on a pretty even basis. I believe that Trent Richardson can be that guy. If this was last years draft class, filled with Julio Jones and AJ Green, I wouldn't think twice about taking one of them, but their is a big difference between Julio Jones at #6 than their is Justin Blackmon at #6.
