Rams should look hard at Bills' RFA OG's

Friend of the site and uber fan Brent asked about a couple of guards that might be options for the Rams. I was stumped. Clearly, he had done his research; I had not. Anyway, he was kind enough to write up a fan post, and I wanted to share. Cheer. -RVB

Hello Rams fans,

It has been quite some time since I've written any articles. I've left that to the professionals here at TST (Ryan, Joe, Brandon, Tevin, etc.).

Free agency has been good to the Rams so far. Les Snead, Jeff Fisher and company have managed to recruit and sign Cortland Finnegan, Scott Wells and Kendall Langford. So far, these additions have been graded well, at least according to WalterFootball.com's Free Agency Poll. However, after doing a bit of research on available O-line talent I am not yet satisfied. Who is out there that could immediately impact the Rams, and what would he cost?

In particular, there are two young OG's that the Buffalo Bills currently have on a RFA tender. They are Kraig Urbik and Chad Rinehart. Both are younger guys, at 26 years old, but both are incredibly underrated and just coming into their primes.

According to our friends at Pro Football Focus (@ProFootballFocus for you twitter heads), both Urbik and Rinehart were among the top 10 guards (with at least 200 snaps) in pass blocking efficiency (FYI new center Scott Wells was 3rd among C's). In fact, Urbik ranked #1 and Rinehart #4. Combined, Urbik and Rinehart allowed only 12 pressures in 785 snaps. That information can be found here.

I spoke a bit with Pro Football Focus today about the OG's, and was informed that it would take a 3rd rounder for either guard. Buffalo may not be able to keep both of them.

Addendum (10:10 pm CST)

Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) of B/R, a very solid source for scouting, recently profiled the top 32 right guards in the NFL. Urbik came in 7th, and Rinehart came in 13th. Harvey Dahl is 6th.
