NFL Free Agents: Three Teams Chasing Eric Winston, So Far

Stay connected for news and updates

Tackle Eric Winston could be a big addition for the St. Louis Rams.

The dance between free agent defensive tackle Jason Jones and the St. Louis Rams looks like the top priority for the team right now, especially since Jones has airfare to visit Seattle on Thursday. Jones is not the only tackle the Rams are wooing. Houston Texans free agent offensive tackle Eric Winston is still available, and has visits scheduled with the Chiefs, Dolphins and the Rams.

He was in Miami on Wednesday morning.

If he gets out of South Florida and heads to Missouri without a contract, he absolutely needs to be a top priority for the Rams, whose offensive line is starved for talent.

Winston made his living as a right tackle in Houston. He might be able to work on the left side, but the Rams' new coaching staff might also be able to get Rodger Saffold back on track. Either way, the Rams could really use Winston.

There is one slight medical concern. Winston failed a physical with the Texans, prior to his release. According to Fox Sports, he failed because of a knee scope in February and should be ready to play again in two weeks.

It could be tough for Winston to get out Miami given their need to shore up the right side of their line before adding a quarterback.
