Another Year Without Top WR Talent

Here we are again, Ram Fans, another year of wondering when, if, or how our beloved, beleaguered team will come up with a top, truly effective wide receiver. Sound familiar? You know it does. It's like ground hog day all over again, and it's getting rather tiresome.

This year we have a new regime to handle the same old problem, and so far... nothing has happened. Does that mean we're screwed again? A few thoughts on that subject, after the break.

It's only day 2 of free agency. That means there is more action to come, and we could very well end up with a top WR. That's the good news. And of course, we have the upcoming draft where I'm told a few high prospects loom beyond that horizon. That's more good news.

But if you're like me, you wince every time a day like yesterday comes around, and we end up watching other teams position themselves for top free agent WRs, proven quality and quantity receivers. Look at Washington, for example. Not only do they position for RGIII, but go out and grab some proven talent on day 1 of free agency.

Ouch. I hate Washington, but have to admit it bothers me (again) to see the Rams accomplish nothing at the position. Worse, I keep reading about our current pool of talent being more experienced now and therefore better than they were before. I read those comments as really saying... we still suck at receiver, and haven't got around to fixing the problem. Again.

I'm hoping for a change. Please. Let us see some football this year that showcases Sam Bradford the quarterback, the thrower, thinker. Not Sam Bradford the downtrodden, beaten up, 3 down and out quarterback that never gets his chance to truly shine.

IMO
