Cortland Finnegan was a great addition to the secondary. He brings a physical style of play that is needed. One WR' on my FA wish list was gobbled up like pancakes:
Robert Meachem, San Diego
Braylon Edwards 6'3 220. The former 2005 first rounder; third overall pick, has been rehabbing his right knee. During a poor injury plagued season with The 49er's, Edwards attempted to play through his injuries( Shoulder trouble ). The 49er's were making a playoff push and needed healthy WR's. Edwards was released. When healthy, Edwards demonstrates tremendous physicality. He is 29 years old; the cost would be minimum to sign him, provided he checks out medically. Brandon Lloyd is probably leaving. The Rams missed out on a few WR's in free agency. At the very least, they could bring Edwards in and check him out. Even if he signs , WR is still a position that will need to be addressed in the draft. If Blackmon is off the board; then The Rams will have to think long and hard about a Stephen Hill or Malcolm Floyd. In the later rounds Tommy Streeter, Miami and Jarius Wright should also be considered. WR has been neglected far too long. The consequences have been telling.
DT Jason Jones is talking to other teams. I would not count on him to sign. It appears to me if a FA that you have targeted for some time comes in and then decides to check out other offers; I think the chance of closing the deal is less than 50%. After the jump, I will list free agents that are still available as of this posting. The Rams may be in a good position to sign three or four of them.
2. Mike Tolbert
3. Amobi Okoye
4. Tracy Porter
5. Braylon Edwards ( If Healthy ) A Wildcard who could pay dividends for the league veteran minimum salary
