FA : Options For Rams

This is starting out as quite an offseason for The Rams. Jeff Fisher was hired as the new HC. He intends to build a team with a foundation of toughness; particularly in the trenches. Fisher would like to install a physical running game which would offer a degree of protection for QB Sam Bradford. Another need is defensive players that can stop the run. The Rams were 31st in the league in this category. With the possibilty of Brandon Lloyd going to New England, WR will be a position to improve.

With a few cost saving roster moves; these FA's could be signed. The player list is after the jump

1.RB Mike Tolbert, San Diego. Age 26. 5'9 243.

Effective short yardage power back who is also adept as a receiver. In 2011 Tolbert had:490 yards rushing and 8

TD's. He also caught the ball 54 times for 453 yards and 2 TD's. A power back that has proved valuable in short

yardage and goal line situations.

2. OLB Manny Lawson, Cincinatti. Age 27. 6'5 240.

Solid against the run and the pass. In 2011 Lawson accounted for:52 Tkl's, 1.5 Sacks, and 4 PD.

Lawson is not a great pass rusher. What he brings is run stopping ability in addition to coverage skills from the

strongside.

3. WR Robert Meachem, New Orleans Saints. Age 27.

A young WR who can stretch the field and would provide much needed help at the position. In 2011 Meachem had 40 recs, for 620 yards, and 6 TD's.
