Draft RGIII
Hi all. This is my second fanpost. I've been following TST for about 3 years now and I joined about a month ago. I respect everyone's opinion(except jswirb lol) and would like to thank you all for the football knowledge I get from this site. I love draft time because most times we are all wrong but its fun speculating about the possibilities. Anyway I'll get to the point.
I've posted this before with not much response so I figured I'd make a fanpost to see what people think. If we don't get a good enough offer to trade down then we could draft RGIII. Some team that wants him bad enough will give us the picks once they know they can't trade with MIN for him. Cleveland might think RGIII will drop so they sit on there picks until "With the #2 pick in the 2012 draft the St. Louis Rams select RGIII". GMs and HCs start to panic. What now? If the Browns don't get Manning or Flynn do they really want Orton or Cassel as there QB? Same with WAS, MIA, JAX, KC, AZ, SEA, DAL? Hell is Elway going to keep Tebow? So many things will happen between now and the draft but I'm just wondering what your opinions are on the RGIII draft? Could it end up bad? Sure. But could it turn out great? You tell me.

not a bad idea, I'm thinking thats a go to option.
happened when Eli and Rivers got drafted. Trade came later. Its an option. As for your comment “…watching the draft because most times we are all wrong…” I’d say most of us were right these past years and Devaney F…d up. Just saying…
By "all wrong" I meant with who we pick but
trust me I wish we had some of the drafts I saw on here.

I said NO
because that would be a huge gamble on our part, taking a player we don’t need vs. a player that we need badly.
im with you
i dont think the rams are in position to be holding ransom on anyone.
the chargers drafted a qb that didnt want to play there but they still needed a qb.
Not worth taking
What happens if colt gets relations and breaks out. What happens if the browns call o ur bluff. Our draft shouldnt be based on punishing a team for not trading up. If they dnt want to trade up, lets just take kalil

I see your point.
I just think about Kolb getting that big contract and Flynn probably about to get one. RGIII has way more potential than either of them. If we didn’t get a reasonable offer on draft day all it will take is one good showing in preseason and a team would jump. Some QB will go down early in the season leaving a team in a Palmer to Oakland like trade and we will be sitting there with the best option.

I like it.
Maybe. At least it would prove we had someone in the FO with a pair. I still hope that we get a trade partner, and think the odds are likely that we will.
It might turn out to be a Ditka-esque draft day move, but we could definitely do worse!
That's what I have been saying all along
Cleveland might be thinking they can stay pat and still get him at #4. With us taking him means everyone needing a QB has to come to us if they want to have a decent season. If not let Bradford and RGIII fight it out.
Dont think its the right time
using our 1st round pick on a player to get more picks in the future when we have so many holes at this time is a bad idea, if we cant trade down take Kalil at the very least we will need a back up or replacement for jason smith
Voted no. We have too many needs and too much cap space opening next year
to risk having to sign a player we don’t need. Fisher is too conservative to gamble like that anyway.
A thought
With the NFL being a passing league, and the offenses always EVOLVING, if we take RGIII, can you imagine the chaos if we ran a hurry up, rotating Sam and RG? The defenses would have to game plan fot two extreme “looks”. I know it’s a far reach, but kinda fun to imagine. I can see defensive packages running into each other trying to get on and off the field.
Interesting!
But if i was going that route I’d draft Darren Thomas, cheaper than RG3
