Rams sign CFL OT Jovan Olafioye

On February 3rd, Rams signed Jovan Olafioye to a two year deal, with Olafioye reported to make close to six figures. Olafioye was an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina Central, who was cut by the Detriot Lions in training camp and headed north to the CFL. He played two years in the CFL, and is only 24. Olafioye was an all star in the CFL in 2011, and was a finalist for the league's most outstanding lineman award, finishing second. The 6-6, 325-pound lineman worked out for or visited 15 teams in the past six weeks. He started at RT for the B.C. Lions, but has played both tackle spots.

Olafioye is a low cost signing with some upside, and at a position of need. He is expected to compete for a roster spot in training camp.

As someone who lives in Edmonton and occasionally pays attention to the CFL,

I have no idea who he is. That said I don’t pay a ton of attention to the CFL because it is such an inferior league. Let’s all hope he turns out to be the next Cameron Wake.

Rams fan, Oilers fan, and Wizards fan. Probably the worst at picking professional sports teams to cheer for in history.

sometimes but not a lot the NFL will look at the other lesser leagues if tthey feel there is aa

player good enough to try out Kurt Warner is a good example. He was actually a QB in arena football prior to the NFL so good players can be found in the other leagues sometimes.

Why not?

If he was one of the best in the CFL, and surely he is not costing much, at worst he can provide depth.

Check out this video link.

He is number 63 playing right tackle for the BC Lions in orange uniforms. Shows good footwork. Just wondering how he will stand up to NFL talent…

I liked a couple of players on that BC team

That little running back, Tim Brown I think, had some ass kickin moves on that one long run towards the end. Yes Olifioye looked good at RT not much competition there though. Who else thinks we could have used a couple of those receivers who seem to catch everything thrown their way?

2 questions, is Lulay one of the Oregon Lulays who all went to high school at Regis? And 2, how the hell does a team score 1 frickin point in a football game? Never seen that before. I guess I’ll just google it.

The NFL should open a “D” league much like the MLB’s farm club system. Teams in mid market cities allow more fans to see the game and wouldn’t be a bad place to develope some rough edged players or a rehab place for others.

A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist....
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong!

So Saffold goes to RT

and this dude goes to LT? That means they are not planning on drafting Kalil or that he will be gone before they can.
