Kendall Wright
I've been banging my head against the wall for the past couple of days over this situation, but how is Kendall Wright not the #1 receiver available in this draft? Aside from his 5'10" height, he seems to have no deficiencies. However, he does have a TON of upside. Here are a few things.
Reported 42-inch vertical
4.35ish 40-yd dash
Ability to play either inside or outside
Good, soft hands
All of these projected numbers will be cleared up by the end of this week, but I don't see how Blackmon is the better prospect (aside from size, which Blackmon is only 6'1). There are quite a few notable NFL receivers under 6'0", and I'll name a couple of 'em: Greg Jennings, Steve Smith, Desean Jackson. There are others, but these are the guys that Wright is being compared to. What other player in this draft could add the explosiveness that the Rams have been missing? I think that if we end up trading down out of the top 5, he might actually be our best bet.
Okay, I've said my piece. Let the hatred spew if you must.

Forget spewing hatred about Wright... What about Clowns? Or Bears? What about Bears dressed as Clowns?
…Or even worse – Clowns, dressed as Bears! Ohhh the humanity!
I think Wright has a lot riding on the Combine. He is definitely rising up quite a few draft boards though. NFP has him being picked at #30 in the first round. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/scouting_department.html

He won't last to 30
That’s the lowest I’ve seen him in a reliable mark. I’ve seen some as high as 7 at the Jags (They’d probably go for one of the bigger receivers though) or down to 22 at the Browns (which could end up being us). I see him going somewhere in that range, probably on the 14-22 side of it.
Size is the main reason
I love wright and think he will be great, but lots of teams like height
Is that great man formally known as Tevin T. Broner, also I'm on twitter Follow @T_Bron
I can only assume
those grading and evaluating see Blackmon as more capable of exploiting his talents. You also have to consider the crazy insane stats Blackmon put up the last two seasons.
What makes one prospect better than another? That’s tough to say and highly subjective. They are all pretty good when it comes down to it. Usually it’s what’s between the ears that makes the difference although sometimes there are pure physical freaks but that’s a rarity.
As fans, all we’re really doing is listing to the opinions of those outside the loop and playing our hunches or favorites. For all any of us know Wright is #1 on the Rams board.

had crazy stats too, and look how great he turned out to be. I don’t think stats mean much anymore. It’s almost like you need to draw a name out of a hat, or flip a coin.
Wright could be that...
number one guy with a little work. I think we need an offensive tackle first. I don’t think Blackmon is worth the number 4 pick, but if we could get Wright at #22 (assuming we trade with Cleveland) it would be a perfect draft. That said, Blackmon might be the better prospect, but not worth a high pick. He’s not going to be a Megatron and I think it would have to be a Megatron style WR in order for the Rams to use a top 5 pick.

I agree with that
Blackmon will never be a Megatron. He simply doesn’t have the catch radius. 6’1" isn’t very big for a big receiver prospect. Johnson is 6’5"ish and also has about a 40" vertical. Blackmon’s is reported to be around 33". I doubt Wright will fall to #22, but if we ended up trading with a bit later of a team, whether it be Washington (still a bit high to take him), Miami (little bit more comfortable with it here), or someone in the 10-17 range I’d consider it a good pick. We could use some OL help, but we’ll see starting tomorrow and continuing through the pro days just how good the OL prospects are. Plus, if Wright runs an even faster 40 than projected, he could rise up the boards even more. Lets say, 4.30? I think that would make him the ABSOLUTE best prospect in the class, and maybe even worth a top pick.
