Power rankings summary, Week 13: Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

Christian Petersen

A return to winning ways means a rise in the power rankings. But how much?

The Cardinals got their spankins

as 3k drank his drankins.

Now I've forgot

the win we sought.

Thanks, Janoris Jenkins.

(Random note: After the loss to the Jets, the Rams rose up the rankings one spot. After beating the Cardinals, the Rams dropped a spot. God bless us all, every one.)

Average ranking (# of rankings) 21.45 (11)

Biggest negative change (source) -1 (SB Nation, every one.)

SB Nation: 26th (25th last week)

My surprise 2012 playoff team appears dead in the water. Note: don't listen to me next time I have a surprise playoff pick.

ESPN: 21st (26th)

The Rams have allowed one TD pass with seven INTs and 18 sacks against NFC West quarterbacks.

NFL.com (Power Poll): 22nd (25th)

NFL.com (Harrison): 22nd (26th)

In what essentially amounted to an elimination game for the St. Louis Rams, Jeff Fisher's club came through in Arizona, sweeping the Cardinals in the process. At 4-6-1, there's not much hope. But if the Rams can pull off the upset of the 49ers at home on Sunday, they have two winnable games vs. the Vikings and at the Bills. Don't snicker. They would've ousted the Niners in Week 10 if it wasn't for an illegal-formation call in overtime. #justsayin'

CBS Sports: 19th (23rd)

It's too bad they can't play the Cardinals every week. Jeff Fisher has to like what he's seeing for the future.

Yahoo! Sports: 21st (25th)

Rams fans have to be intrigued by the potential of fourth-round wide receiver Chris Givens, who hauled in another long touchdown (37 yards) in the first 100-plus yards receiving game of his career in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Cardinals. Givens has 22 receptions after a slow start and was inactive for the 24-24 tie with the 49ers after breaking team rules, but the speedster is averaging 21.2 yards per catch and had a five-game streak where he caught one pass of at least 50 yards. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Givens has six receptions of 30-plus yards in 43 total targets, matching the total the Rams had as a team during the 2009 season.

Pro Football Talk: 19th (23rd)

Whoever makes it to the NFC playoffs should be very glad if the Rams don’t.

Pro Football Weekly: 22nd (26th)

Janoris Jenkins is first rookie with two pick-sixes in a game since 1960.

Fox Sports: 22nd (26th)

This is the first season since 2004 in which the Rams have swept a divisional opponent and they have yet to lose a divisional game all season. They do have that one tie, though.

National Football Post: 21st (24th)

How about rookie CB Janoris Jenkins? Two picks, two TDs? Not bad.

Sports Illustrated: 21st (26th)

The Rams are 3-0-1 against the NFC West, and 1-6 against the rest of league. If I'm St. Louis, I'm petitioning the league for more division games. But here come the 49ers and quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who the Rams saw plenty of in that Week 10 tie in Candlestick. To a degree, the 49ers have St. Louis to thank for perhaps ending the Alex Smith era in San Francisco.
