Whatup Rammers ? Here to bring you guys... my Second ! Rams Draft Talk thread. But.... wait for it... It's
College Safeties Edition !Yay !Alot of exciting stuff to discuss after this weeks college football action. I was unable to get #2 up for last weeks game due to my buissy schedule and so here I am doing number 2 for this week. From what i've heard if the draft were today the Rams would have the 7th pick i believe and the 12th pick(via Washington.) Though things seem like they will continue too shake up differently if teams continue to stink it up and the Redskins continue to get hot as the season goes on.
The way i see things shaking out (or hope) is with the Rams finishing with a 5-10-1 record, and staying pat with the 7th Overall Pick, and the Redskins finishing with a 7-9 record and the Rams with the 16th pick in the draft. Alot of issues come into play with this scenario and with the college land scape changing in general. Luke Joeckel may vary well be the one of the few prospects in this class worth the #1 overall pick, while with the teams that are finishing in this position don't need tackles (Jags & Chiefs) teams like the Eagles and Cardinals that could finish ahead of us will be looking for Offensive Lineman ! The question that has popped up layely now becomes what will we do if Joeckel isn't available when we pick ? Well theres many options the Rams can take I think trading down wouldn't sound like too bad of a idea ? But the hard part with that is, really what players would teams really want to trade up for in this draft ? Is there really as many difference makers this year in the (5-10 area) worth the picks like last years Morris Claiborne, Fletcher Cox, etc. Well than again if the Browns where stupid enough to trade up one spot and the Jags were willing to trade up for Blackmon than it wouldn't be too late to count out teams trading up for a player they simply covet very highly.
Now on with some things I took note of this weekend within the College Football world.
Josh Evans, Matt Elam, Shawn Williams & Bacarri Rambo...The Two Florida safeties and the Two Georgia Safeties... they just might be the top 4 safeties in the draft class however you order them. Elam and Josh Evans played lights out games against FSU ELam making a crucial interception and Evans deflecting two passes and Rambo and Williams both have ideal size and were Elite in there game against Pass happy Ole Miss who exposed other former top safety prospect Eric Reid ! Elam looks too be the best out of this crop of safety tandems but the only problem is his size, but Elam shuts those talks up of his size by being an extreme competitor on the field. I've watched every game of Elam and one thing he doesn't do is take plays off, I noticed in the FSU game even on special teams Elam showed an extreme drive too give his all in every play, when Florida State could've ran a punt back, Elam came all the way back after falling and making a TD saving tackle. I think he's a more willing hitter than Evans but both just blanketing those good FSU receivers. I haven't gotten to watch as much film on the Georgia tandem but I've seen more of Rambo who reminds me of a bigger Matt Elam, but who doesn't have the overall skill set that Elam has but can, i've seen less of Williams this season but when I have I saw that he did alot of things right and made big plays in the Ole Miss game but also had some missed assignments against them but had an overall approving performance. I think 3 of the above safeties will probably be in the 2nd round range with the possibility of sliding too the third, and we know we have to draft a safety or maybe even two somewhere in this draft so the question is, which of these safeties would be the ideal pick for us and where at in the draft would give us the best value ? Do we draft one safety or two ? Does the Georgia tandem or the florida tandem have the edge ? To those of you who aren't familliar with these guys here's some game film on Rambo and Williams , Elam And Evans
This time I won't do my annual Mock, but i'd like to know what mocks you guys are thinking of ? Do we let Dahl AND Mikell go next year ? Do we target two safeties in the draft ? How highly do we take our first safety ? I will update the thread tommorow after the game with an analysis of positions on the Rams performing well for the week and positions under performing for this week and also a Mock with much more accurate research than in my past mocks but for now i'd like too hear what picks you guys have in mind. But to end it off among other questions who are some safeties you guys think the Rams talent scouts should be eye'ing ? Who are some under the radar guys we should be looking at ? Make sure you guys leave feed back ! Kv out !
