So for the most part, I have been on the whole "new regime" train. I have been high on the coaching change and really the whole ball of wax....until this past weekend. We got beat up by one of the weakest kids on the playground!
In the midst of that, I noticed one thing that I could not let go of...bad play-calling. Bad play-calling on the offensive side of the ball. Abandoning the run when it was working! Sad to say, if you go searching on the net, Brian Schottenheimer is known for this back in New York! He was criticized greatly for this. Players even started going to Rex Ryan due to Schotty's offensive scheme! There are even some interviews where he admits to bad play-calling (in so many words)! What does that mean for us?
What does it mean when the guy who is called upon to make us better on that side of the ball has a disease called "staleassplaycalling-idis"? It means that we may be headed to a 4-12 record folks! I am wishing for another win this season, but after Sunday, not holdin my breath for it.
I have tried to come up with all kinds of excuses for Schottenheimer's time in New York. Inept QB play. Lack of cohesion in the WR corps. Sub-par line play. NOTHING CAN TAKE AWAY FROM BEING OUT COACHED.
I can only hope and pray that Schottenheimer wakes up and gets real with his playbook. You don't have 5 years to tinker in St. Louis Schotty.
Did anyone see the stands Sunday? I was at home watching and could see that hardly anyone was there. If the Rams want the venue full, if the Rams want a new(er) stadium, then wins are the only thing that will get them there. Blow the dust of that playbook and get creative NOW! Start using all weapons and fire all silos! Anyone that can catch a ball should be an option and anyone that can hit a hole should run like their lives depend on it! That is what I want to see from this offense. COMPETE DAMMIT! COMPETE!!!!!
