Has Jeff Fisher made progress this season? You can say that the team plays tougher now, but people said that when Linehan took over for Martz and when Spagnuolo took over for Linehan. You could say the team does not give up and does not get intimidated by anyone, but last year's squad took down the 13-3 Saints. After his timeout with 1:13 left in the game last week (and his subsequent defense of the clear mistake) and the poor decision to go for the two point conversion today, we have seen that Jeff Fisher is not a good clock manager or game manager. If he has not figured that out after 17+ years as a head coach, when will he figure it out?
Game management and clock management are only part of coaching. With three wins, the 2012 Rams already have more wins than the 2011 Rams. However, if the Rams had Josh Brown instead of Greg Zuerlein, the results of the Seahawks game would be very different.Rams 19 Seahawks 13 - Zuerlein hits FGs from 58, 48, 60 and 24. The Rams probably do not win this one without Zuerlein. (One of the other two wins came against a rookie QB in his second game in RG3, and another came against one of the worst offensive lines in the league in the Cardinals).
With Bradford entering his 3rd year and Quinn developing this year, coupled with all the early picks the Rams had for this year, it seems likely to me that any of the coaches in Rams history would have three wins with this team.
Has Fisher really proven anything? The more I see, the more I am convinced the Rams have not made a good decision in hing him.
