I can't stand what I hear from our fans on this site. If it isn't " It was a good catch but he should not use his body so much next time" or " well it was a good throw but he had a guy wide open down field" . I don't see why our Rams fans have to find something critical about every play, even if it's a good one. Every player has their bad plays. Someone like Bradford will have more than others because he has not been the focal point of an offense until this year. Fisher realizes what kind of player Bradford is, Fisher knows football, Fisher knows how to win and Fisher will get us to win. He will continue to build around Bradford and we will see a better team all around in St. Louis. We have tried to rely on one player the last 8 years and it brought us ZERO success. The game is changing and we have an elite QB to change with it. Our team is leaps and bounds ahead of any other teams in the NFC West because of our QB. It may not seem like it now, but we have the best QB in the NFC West. I will end this part of my rant with, no one doubts our QB besides us. The Rams fans are so critical of our Qb when a majority of the outside world knows he is a winner and a franchise QB. He has never had a true number 1 that was in a system which could fit the Rams and the players trying to run it, He has never had a great OL, He has never had a D that could keep him off teh field or in good position (until this year) and he has never had a City that believed in him or his team 100%. This game is an all in type of game, we all have to be on the same page and willing to gamble in order to win.
Defense: Bottom line, we are good on D! Jenks is about to cross over the line from rookie to a player that teams have to game plan around. Finn is all over and is doing what he was brought here to do. Finns attitude is being taken in by all the players on our D. He is a leader who leads by example. He will get some calls his way and he will get some calls that hurt the team, but he is smart enough when to do either or. Our D is learning and learning fast. Our D line is a different story. They are very physical and athletic, Big things have happened and even bigger things will come. Dunbar is here to stay, he will be part of the next Superbowl team we have here in Stl. We just need one more OLB and a safety and we can have an elite D that will win us championships. Were so close, and with the FO we have now, it might not be to far away.
Special teams: We have a kicker who will help win us a Superbowl as well. I agree with some people on ESPN and NFL network when they say we cant pat a kicker on the back to often because it could hurt us. I know GZ is a great kicker and he is a huge part of our success. Hekker is great as well!
We have spent the last 8 years building around Steven Jackson. For those of you who don't know, I have never been a fan. I have been a fan of him as a player but not what our FO as a whole has done since he has gotten here. We have never given him a solid backup. The league has been adapting to a 2-3 back backfield the last 5 years and we have refused to do that. We couldn't do that because we believed in him and he costs a bunch of money. He could have had a longer career if we would have done so. I feel bad for him because he is a beast and could have had an even better career if we would have planned around him better. He will most likely not be back next year, thats just what I have been thinking the last couple weeks and the statements made during last weeks game. We will move on though.
Amendola needs to stay healthy. He is clearly a weapon and reliable player on offense when healthy. We now have no need to worry about him jumping ship because we will get him for cheap and not many other teams will offer as much as we do. He was injured pretty much all last season and will miss at least games this season. Lets hope we lock him up long term for a fair deal.
The reason behind this is not to push my opinion on every one, but to maybe help open some eyes. I know I'm not perfect and what I wrote isn't either. I just think that we all need to be true FANS and stop being so critical. If something bad happens, lets just move past it. We have to have a short memory. The next thing coming is " Oh when is Amendola coming back?, he would have had that" We have to just move on from the injuries and the bad throws, missed tackles or big plays from opposing teams. We are not rebuilding as a team, we are reinventing. We don't have time to rebuild our attitude towards our team. We need to reinvent how we look at and critique our team because they need us now. Go Rams! Swirb out
