Evaluating the Hawkeyes

I have been asked, by at least one person, to give my estimate on current Hawkeys as they relate to the Rams. On that one persons request, I'll do so. A little background. I've written for the Rivals site for Iowa for many years. I'm a huge Hawk fan and Rams fan. Also, the Cardinals in baseball. I attended the U of Iowa, and jumped aboard as soon as STL got a team back. I am in no way a professional draftnik. Just a fan. That being said, a review of the Hawkeyes as they relate to the Rams after the jump.

We'll have to start with Reilly Reiff. He was recruited as a DE, and it was a fight between Nebraska and Iowa. At one point, he made a mistake and almost left the program involuntarily. However, he cleaned up his act. From the moment he stepped on the field you could see his physical dominance.

For those that don't know, Iowa is a program that takes high school players and puts them in the position they should be in, rather than the one they played. Reiff is an example of that. Chad Greenway is another (HS quarterback, witch incidentally, is the same state Reiff is from.)

Reiff is so strong. Part of the Iowa program, but he's weird strong. He's very similar to Bulaga, the tackle for the Packers. If I had to pick one of the two, I'd go with Bulaga. However, Reiff would be a strong consolation prize.Easy pick in a trade down scenario. Iowa lineman don't disappoint, unless you make them a high draft pick.

So, I guess we better talk about Marvin McNutt. He holds all the important records for a wide receiver in Iowa history. He's not as fast as some, but he's as big. His hands are excellent. If the Rams go for Blackmon in the first, which they probably should (assuming the loss of Lloyd), McNutt will be there in the third. I think they should take him.

Needless to say, it will be a fun offseason.
