Matt Flynn and Peyton Manning/ So What?

Matt Flynn and Peyton Manning

We need to be bold and smart!

Star-divide

Why all the talk about the Rams losing out on trading down to Cleveland or Washington because of Flynn coming into the mix and Peyton's possible but unlikely return?

They are just blowing smoke in front of everyone. Cleveland and Washington both want RGIII. However, neither one wants to give up all the picks. Why? Cleveland's thinking is the Rams take Blackmon and the Vikings take Kalil thus leaving RGIII right where they want him. Cleveland would still have the option of then trading down (which is their MO) and stock pile picks from Washington to fill their needs. Good move for both teams. What to do? Be bolder than either one of them and shock all the so called football geniuses.

We take RG III with the number 2 pick and call all their bluffs. Now we are in the position of getting what we want by trading RG III for picks in rounds 1, 2, 3. Once he is property of the Rams, the bidding war will begin. IMO it's the best move we can make. Or, scenario number 2, we keep RG III and trade Bradford. However, this does not address any immediate needs that we have by simply switcihng QB's when we have so many other holes to fill.

Well fans, what do you think??

I agree...

plus Flynn will not come as cheap as a rookie like RG3 for any team worried about cap space. And don’t expect Peyton to sign with a team that has no shot at a championship in the next year or two. Those won’t be potential Rams trading partners anyway.

Peyton will wear a suit and tie in 2012

and Matt Flynn will wish he could, but he’ll have to settle for a Dolphins uniform, and the cellar of the AFC East

We no longer have leverage

If we pick RG3. We are at a significant disadvantage. Sure we have him, but now what. We cant keep him and bradford, and that is obvious, so then we have to get rid of one of them. And have to take what people are willing to give us. Its no longer, what if someone else takes him. We have picked him, now WE need to get rid of him.

And sure there may be interest. But what if they decide no, they dont want him for what we are asking. They decide a 2nd round QB is more worth their pick. Then we are really screwed. Now we have wasted our first round pick, and 2 QBs

IMO drafting RG3 would be our dumbest move.

With the new CBA, a gamble like this is actually feasible

The new rookie salary cap makes RGIII no more expensive than any other player in the first round. Whether we do this or not isn’t really the case though. It’s about the Rams hiring a GM with the stones to sell the gamble to other teams. In this draft, we need a true deal maker.

I agree to a large part...

….But the drop to the #3 QB this year is a pretty steep one.

And frankly, the Rams are so bad, having 2 first-round QBs wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen to them.

If they can send Kiper into an apoplectic frenzy with the 2nd pick of the draft, then I already consider that a successful season.

Disagree

Kolb, Cassel, Flynn seem to get big compensation. Teams won’t just settle for 2nd round QBs as we saw last year. They want to win now. With risk comes reward. Take RGIII and if the offers aren’t enough we get future picks at worst case when a team sees him in action.

Totally disagree! No risk no reward. This organization needs needs multiple picks.

Done deal folks

Washington and Rams have already agreed in principle.

Quit saying this as fact

You’re specuating this, just like the rest of us.

Alternatively, tell us the terms of the trade and you’ll get retroactive rep’s.

Go for it.

Don't know the terms

1) Washington – Says they have their QB of the future already picked.

2) Fisher chooses the Rams over the Dolphins. Why? At first it was reported as GM issues. Then it wasn’t. It certainly wasn’t the money. It’s not the core. Both teams have a decent core for rebuilding.

Silent Stan convinced Fisher that there is already a deal in place to trade the #2 picks for more picks, that Fisher will have a say in getting. Fisher had to have some say in getting these picks in order to take the head coaching vacancy.

3) Why didn’t I say it was with the Browns? Because. McCoy is a good (not great) starting QB. He needs weapons and blocking. Cleveland will take Blackmon at 4 and a G with their other 1st round pick. You’re going to laugh, but he’s going to have a break out season next year, reminds me of Drew Brees.

I don’t know terms and conditions. If I had to guess, I’d say 1st, 2nd, 5th this year, Plus 2nd and 3rd next year.

If you think there are holes with this assumption, point them out. I get it, you all think it’s speculation.

Your smoke & mirrors don't ad up to facts.

1) Washington wants a QB – Already picked is lip service. I have my next Lamborghini of the future already picked.
2) Pure speculation – Fisher is smart enough to know 6 teams out of the first 10 picks need a QB, and that trades are no doubt going to favor the number 2 spot.
3) You are forgetting that the Vikings who pick 3rd would also like RG3. Who’s going to be dumb enough to make a deal this early when you can have an auction on draft day?

Snyder

Is the type of guy that likes making a big splash. Don’t put it past him.

I like the fact that there are objections to my conspiracy theory, it shows people are open minded and that they shouldn’t believe everything they read. Then again, “The greatest trick the devil pulled was getting people to believe he didn’t exist.”

1) Has Washington recanted that quote? Haven’t read about it. Have the Rams recanted about trading out of #2? That’s awesome you’ve picked your NEXT lamborghini. What model?
2) You’re right. I’d call it more of a conspiracy theory. Read between the lines and the theory makes sense. In practice, theory doesn’t work. Then again, gravity is just a theory too.
3) Vikings are the ones using a smoke screen. Ponder and Webb would be upgrades for half the NFL. They were quoted last week as wanting to trade out of the 3rd spot. Don’t forget they need to rebuild. Need a lot more help than the Rams. CB (X2), entire OLine, corners, and safeties, and another WR.
