Senior Bowl 2012: Game Time, TV Schedule & Game Thread
Well, it's been an interesting week down in Mobile leading up today's 2012 Senior Bowl (4pm, NFL Network).
The WR group took a huge hit for scouts as Baylor's Kendall Wright, Notre Dame's Michael Floyd and Wisconsin's Nick Toon were all sidelined with various injuries. You can look at the fallout in two ways.
On one side, that opened the door for the other WRs to get more time. Some, like Cal's Marvin Jones and Arizona's Juron Criner, to step up. Others, like Texas A&M product Jeff Fuller and UNC Tar Heel Dwight Jones didn't fare as well.
On the other hand, it also meant the corners had added pressure to excel without three of the top WRs in action -- they certainly did. Janoris Jenkins, once a Florida Gator but more recently a North Alabama Lion, had scouts raving. Brandon Boykin (Georgia) and Dwight Bentley (Louisiana-Lafayette) also stepped up. And while Alfonzo Dennard's biggest deficiency (his speed) was exacerbated by the soft coverage, as teams look at his tape, they'll see someone who is more than capable of working up on the line.
JimmyK has a good roundup of players who impressed or disappointed him. And CBS' coverage has been excellent this year.
So holler it up in here if you're watching.

Jones and Criner to the Rams if we have to draft WRs. I’d rather get them late in the draft.

I'm watching jeff fuller
Poor senior practices but if he can be had in the fourth or fifth its a steal

A guy I've watched his whole career at OU who is gotten some love this week is Jamell Fleming
Physical CB who excels in coverage.

He'd be a good later round pick (4th maybe?) for the Rams
He was a Redshirt Senior, so he has more “experience” than some guys. Could step in if Bartell or Fletcher get hurt. He’s had some academic/attitude issues, but overall is a good kid that Fisher could straighten out

Maybe in the 4th, but he might have played his way out of that

i don't want any more mid round developing wr's
we got two last year and i feel both will be ok given some playing time. we need a true #1 which will come within the first 35 picks or so. jeffery, floyd, blackmon, sanu, or maybe even wright. someone of that caliber.
The receivers we drafted were both slot receivers
No matter how coaches developed them thats what they are. Completely different situations
by Ram_Redemption on Jan 28, 2012 2:54 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
pettis was the #2 guy at boise
tyler shoemaker played the slot.
if you recall ap starting slow in preseason because he was learning to play 3 different positions. one of them being the slot.
Yea but when he was drafted
Everyone said he was best fitted for the slot which made ema wasted pick when considering danny and greg. alot of college receivers end up as slot guys . If we drafted a guy like fuller in the fourth (where brandon marshall was taken) I would be ok

by Ram_Redemption on Jan 28, 2012 4:47 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
He might, haven't seen enough of him and I'm not really a good judge of that
but he was getting some love from Mayock during halftime

Are USC's players banned from this game? They technically aren't playing for USC any more, so shouldn't they be able to play?
haven't seen any out there, not sure

Is Fisher or someone at the game? I just saw Mike Shanahan on the sidelines

Doug Martin is raising his stock a ton this game.
Haikus are easy,

How do they determine what team you're on? cause ASU WR is on the north team but Nick Foles from Arizona is QBing the south team
I figured they’d do it by conference
Haikus are easy,
but sometimes they don't make sense.
Refrigerator.
that is an excellent question,
also, how is foles doing? i’m surprised to see he entered the draft early.
He's not looking too good IMO, last drive he didn't plant his front foot and had no accuracy
Whatever this WR out of Arkansas is FAST, just turned a simple curl route into a huge gain (mainly cause the CB can’t tackle) has over 100 yards rec so far
Haikus are easy,
but sometimes they don't make sense.
Refrigerator.
and Foles has been bad on the run
Haikus are easy,
but sometimes they don't make sense.
Refrigerator.
i dont think he will be a QB in the nfl,
i think the only reason he entered this year is because landry and barkley decided to stay, so he’s hoping it will make him move up the board.
his size is the main thing going for him
but yeah with this year’s QBs he declared: Luck, RG3 and the rest is how I see it
Haikus are easy,
but sometimes they don't make sense.
Refrigerator.
nope
both aren’t doing too well. Only seen Moore out there once

Upshaw is a beast
and Mayock is sucking Mike Adam’s dick big time after that sack. Wasn’t his fault, but come on man
Haikus are easy,
but sometimes they don't make sense.
Refrigerator.
Little excessive by Mayock
but Adams has looked good. He’ll be a mid to late first round pick when before I thought he was an early second.

That's not good if he's just locked in on one wr.
Good game by Criner though. That should have been his 2nd td.
I think he's just only comfortable with him since they were teammates
sucks for other WRs
