49er's Trade Up For Luck: Colts Add Draft Picks And Young Talent
Compensation given to Colts:
The 49er's 30th pick in the 1st round; their 2nd and 3rd round selections for 2012 and players DT Ian Williams
and ROT Anthony Davis. In addition The Colts will receive the 49er's 1st and 5th round selections for 2013.
Indy has decided to address multiple needs instead of focusing on QB Andrew Luck.
They released Peyton Manning and signed FA QB Kellen Clemens from The St. Louis Rams. The 49er's
reunite Harbaugh and Luck. San Francisco plans to get active during the FA period while also identifying talented
potential UDFA's.
Thanks to Douglas M who suggested that I post this draft scenario.

unless indy gets 2 more 1st rd picks in that trade it is unlikely to happen

They Got Two Young Players
In addition to two early round draft picks for 2012 and a 1st and 5th for 2013. If a team couldn’t make improvements with a compensation like this; IMO they just ain’t trying.
They Could
I just think Clemons( Thanks for correcting my spelling) is capable of doing the job for less. For insurance purposes, The Colts could also draft a B.J. Coleman or Brandon Weeden. There are so many holes on The Colts. IMO they may come out better if they trade the number one overall, spend less money on QB, and use the additional money to improve the team on both sides of the ball.
I really like Clemons......
but Alex Smith would be a better trade piece in this scenario for the short run.

The Colts would be scary if
they draft luck and give him weapons. Just something to think about… Manning is due $28mil this year for the Colts. V Jackson, D Jackson, and D Bowe all together= about $28mil. Get where I’m going with this? Is Manning really worth that at this stage in his career with the injured neck? If I’m GM no. Especially with the best prospect since Manning staring me in the face.

Makes A Lot Of Sense
I did this post with the thought of Luck declining to go to Indy. The Colts would still be in great position to improve their team.
The 49er's Are An Attractive Team
With talented players and a great HC. With San Fran having 46 mil in cap space, they could attract a lot of talent in the FA market. Luck is tremendously popular in Northern California. He may prove to be more popular than Tebow in Denver. What franchise wouldn’t want that? I think it would also demonstrate to the fan base that The 49ers are fully committed to putting the best product on the field as possible. Another thing to keep in mind is whether Andrew Luck wants to play for The Colts. Luck could place himself in a position to make this deal likely; or at least probable.
interesting
very interesting idea. i dont think it is all that far fetched either. maybe for the 49ers to be the team to trade up, but the idea that the colts could do more with letting manning and luck go. the money available to sign free agent help and what they could get in return for luck from a team like the redskins would have to be a little appealing.
i also think clemens will be back in st louis to backup sam the savior.
Clemons Could Come Back
This offseason is like a great suspense movie, full of twist, turns, and the unexpected.
I hate the 49ers
And they don’t need any Luck!

I too think Smith would be
included in any dela like that. You just couldn’t keep him around.
I Think Smith
Would leave. He is coming off a successful season and is in place to earn a great payday. I personally do not think The 49er’s will make this deal; but I am open to the potential of the transaction. Luck is essentially in the drivers seat. He is the one in demand. He does not have to go to Indy. If this were to occur, a lot of teams will line up for his services. Potential Chaos! LMAO!!!
Hate to lose Clemens
he has earned some loyalty from us.
