The thing that surpises me.
I was browsing around the turf show and saw an sb article about Peyton Manning so I decided to read it and holy moly what did I read but an article about Peyton either being traded or retiring and I could not believe my eyes. I think to be traded and replaced with someone like Luck would be a slap in the face to Peyton and rightly so. I personally don't think he is near retirement and I think he'll be able to recover from his neck surgery.
I also think Luck can't hope to see the shadow that is Peyton Manning let alone touch the edge of it in fact I'll go so far as to say if they do replace Manning with Luck they'll be lucky if they make it to the playoff's. I don't think its Manning's fault that he had a coach that didn't know how to coach or a manager that didn't know or didn't want to surround him with the kind of talent that could propel him to at least two if not three more Super Bowls. I thought I would throw up a poll to see what everyone else thought about the Peyton Manning situation.

I think they'd be stupid to get rid of Manning
Luck could be their “future” but Peyton gives them the better chance to win NOW. I think it’s funny how people are overrating Luck and I think he has a HUGE bust factor. He has done nothing on the NFL level but people are comparing him to Legends of the game. Kinda feel sorry for him because if he does bust, he’ll be a bigger bust than Leaf and Russel combined thanks to all the hype..
Bradford + Blackmon = Secondaries Beware
Its only business
Manning has not been cleared to play by any doctors…..He is due 28 million bones in March….Its nothing personal,,,,,its only business….and owners can act like cockroaches when it comes to business.

The problem is...
Peyton’s injury to his neck was serious. From what I understand, one hit in just the wrong spot could cause paralyses. I believe he stays at a reduced rate but maybe more in a coaches role. I don’t believe he will get much attention from around the league via trade talks. Could you figure a team taking that chance and exclaiming " We just got Peyton for a song" then cripple him in the next game. Bad karma.
People get replaced
Joe Montana was traded to Kansas City and Steve Young took over. Steve Young was released and Jeff Garcia took over. Montana and Young are both HOF’s. I can’t believe I actually wrote an example using 49ers. YUK.
It all depends on Peyton's neck.
If he gets a clean bill of health, then I think they keep him. If not, he should retire. There is no point in him risking his long term health after all he has accomplished in the NFL.
If It Were My Call
I would make a considerable effort to trade the 1st overall pick for the best combination of draft picks for 2012 and 2013; and young talent. This would not be done for Manning’s benefit. I would make this move b/c it benefits the franchise overall.

Manning won't be traded but may be released.
Isn’t he due like $28mil this year? Just like Bradford, who would give up all that $$$ and picks? He would ask to be released so he could pick whatever team he wants to play for.

Peyton has what 4 maybe 3 seasons left in him...
Ummm it’s a no-brainer you release him unless he would be willing to restructure that contract. Makes more sense to draft a prospect that is likely to be the next Manning and be set at QB for the next 15+ years. If Joe Montana wasn’t safe in a similar situation then it’s obvious no one is.
If I were Peyton I would retire. That is a very dangerous injury and he has nothing left to prove. He already has made his money and seriously needs to consider the value of the quality of life he will have after football. He could easily sign with several teams but if history is any indication he will painfully fall short of winning another SB. I seem to remember Montana getting slammed to the cold hard turf in Buffalo and basically retiring on the spot though he did play another season with the Chiefs but he was basically done and knew it.
