Rams Owner Stan Kroenke's Statement On Firing Steve Spagnuolo, Billy Devaney
St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke released a statement after the team confirmed the news that Steve Spagnuolo and Billy Devaney have been fired. Kroenke made the usual platitudes you would expect in the statement, but one thing that stood out was his insistence that the entire organization needs to be held accountable for the results. Here's Kroenke's statement:
I would like to personally thank Steve and Billy for their dedication to the St. Louis Rams organization over the past several seasons. This was a difficult decision for many reasons. We have tremendous respect for Steve and Billy as people and football professionals.
No one individual is to blame for this disappointing season and we all must hold ourselves accountable. However, we believe it's in the best interest of the St. Louis Rams to make theses changes as we continue our quest to build a team that consistently competes for playoffs and championships. We wish Steve, Billy and their families the very best in the future and thank them again for their commitment to our organization and the city of St. Louis.
The search for a new head coach and general manager starts immediately.

No its just the 3rd comment this morning from him saying “he is waiting” for them to announce our new GM and HC.

I don't know.
His whole line of posts are probably sarcastic in nature. Faux impatience. Eveybody, I’m sure, wants the Rams to pick the right FO. Not just rush out and fill the positions just to have them filled.
If, in fact, he is being sarcastic then you are showing yourself to be exactly what you are calling him. An idiot and stupid. I’d like to suggest that before you start throwing those words around, make sure that YOU are not the idiot.

Steve Marucci qualifies for the Rooney rule right?
it will go to Fischer but they won’t say anything until they interview an african-american coach
ACCOUNTABILITY!!
Thank you Stan. No more clapping hands and unconditional praises after bad plays.
There is finally some light at the end of the tunnel.

I’m fine gents. And I’ve never been angry over this stuff.
It’s a new day in the tradition that is Rams football. Can’t wait to see what we do with the 2nd pick.

huh?
“ive never been angry over this stuff”?……you only posted about 5000 comments defending spags, and railroading everyone who were all for it…and now your fine now that hes gone?…bi-polar anyone?

Haha, it's just my opinion Mark.
And I was convicted with my beliefs, but not angry. There is a difference. And I’m not fine with it, but it is what it is. Seriously, time to move on from this and go make the playoffs next year now that Spags is gone ;)

Easy everyone...
all this means is that there is change afoot. There’s no guarantee it will be improvement, though I expect we’re all hoping for the best.
Good luck to Spags and Devaney in their next posts…as long as it’s not someone we play in the playoffs :)
In the immortal words of Jim Mora; Playoffs???? Playoffs????
We’re now the hind tit sucker in a division that has suddenly regained respect. Just think, it was the NFC West, minus the Rams, that derailed the “Dream Team” from Philly this year. If the Eagles had been able to sweep the West they’d have been 11-3 and NFC East Champs.
About as coolly worded statement as possible
But the truth is that the fanbase has endured 3 full years of complete embarassment. I doubt there’s ever been an NFL team that drafted 1st, 14th and 2nd (lost tiebreaker for 1st) under the same fo/coach. Aside from leaving us the laughingstock of the suddenly strong NFC West, we still have and old team with more holes in the roster than swiss cheese. This failed regime proved that you can’t squander precious draft picks on the likes of Jason Smith, Darrell Scott, Mardy Gilyard, Keith Null, Hall Davis, Brooks Foster, Fendi Onobun, Eugene Sims, Jerome Murphy, Kendricks, Pettis, Mike Hoom, etc., etc. Even some of the supposed draft successes like Bradford and Saffold are looking rather questionable now. And when you have to consider Bradley Fletcher a great success, well that pretty much says it all. Then when you make a farce of free agency by bringing in too many old cronies like Jason Brown, James Butler, Fred Robbins and other highly questionable players like Sims-Walker, Norwood, Leber, Poppinga, Bannan, Feeley, etc.? And don’t take credit for Quintin Mikell. That was just a wash cause we lost Atogwe. And, oddly enough we dumped guys that are serving as role players, or better, on other teams. Anybody remember Adam Carriker, Laurent Robinson, Bobby Carpenter and others? And for some unknown reason, we cut the fastest guy on the team (Donnie Avery) in favor of mirages like Brandon Gibson and some slow white boys. Other brilliant moves include bringing in McD as OC, keeping Steve Loney and Nolan Cromwell and NOT having a QB coach.
Sooo, the days of the “four pillars” bull shit are over and Spags and Devaney are out of the Ram fans’ misery. No more sideline clapping after game-losing plays. No more bedazzlement at the lack of understanding of clock management. Thank you Lord! Now let’s hope our eccentric billionaire owner has the wisdom to hire someone with successful head coaching experience who won’t take a lotta crap. We’ve proven that STL ain’t the place to develop NEW head coaches. Please get us a Cowher, Fisher, Gruden or Billick type of guy.
Haha, a genious Monday morning QB.
Man, you’re sooooooo much smarter than anybody.
You sound like a 6 year old. But if it made you feel better to bash them, then at least you got something out of it. And thanks for being cool….that was very cool.

One of the things we shouldn't dicount is a desire to have players who are quality in talent and character too.
I have no problem with the “4 Pillars”, just as long as it doesn’t include the “ah, shucks” attitude. A coach needs to inspire intensity by driving his player. High character guys aren’t fragile little birds.

Wrong choose of word
Could do without the “White Boy” Comment
Steve Spagnuolo - great guy, great DC, just not cut out to be a HC (yet)...
This is a results-based business, and his overall record in three years was his ultimate downfall. Personally, I’m pissed it didn’t work out for the guy. When he was taken on I thought he was the man to help us forget about the Linehan years. Unfortunately, he’s now spoken of as being as inept as a HC as Linehan.
Another opportunity as a HC will roll around again, but in the meantime there’s gonna be some team who’ll be lucky to have him run their D.
As far as Billy Devaney being fired? Fuck him. Never rated the guy.

We should have...
Traded spags to the eagles for djax and cromartie, and draft kalil. Win win win. Lol.
