NFC West 1st Round Draft Picks 2006-2010
Okay, here we go. This is my first FanPost and if all goes well I will follow it up. I thought it might be interesting to see the NFC West 1st round draft picks from 2006 - 2010 so we can gauge how each team fared. Each first rounder made their team when they were drafted (shown in second to last column) and how long they stayed with the team (the last column). The rest is self exploratory (year drafted, pick#). I have submitted a five year sample size.
Leinert was the biggest bust but I'll leave the rest to you. If you find this to your liking I will follow up with the NFC West's 2nd round picks in the same year range.
I hope this formats on the screen!

Good Post!
I’d include when a player left their drafting team and where they went. If they are no longer in the NFL post a quick stat total.
Would love to see this refined and for each division. If you need any help let me know. Keep up the great work!
This reply will also apply to your response below
this was my first fanpost (ever!) and it took me an hour to put together. I’m hoping to get feedback on its context and take it from there. Thank you so much for your suggestions and guidance.

Grading
each team would be interesting. I’m kind of piggy backing on RamChop’s Rams 3 year draft and would like to go as far as 4 rounds if you guys are interested.

Dovetailing off of other posts is a great way to put the whole subject together thoroughly
Write brief synopsises on each failed #1. Don’t be afraid to inject a bit of humor too. I think you’re onto a great series of articles here. Don’t be suprised if they start getting moved to the front page after you dial them in
By the way, RamChop won't have any problem with you continuing the trend of his post.
He knows the highest compliment you can get by writing anything is when it inspires other to write and learn more. In fact, ask Chop questions about players you don’t know much about and I’ll bet he can tell you loads of stuff.
If you can figure out a way to give the tables titles in bold
it would make the tables easier to understand. Other than that, interesting stuff to look at. A shiny new Rec for you sir!
Two things about me will never change. I will always root for the Rams, and I will always root against the Niners.
I’ll take a stab at it. Thanks for the rec.

Looking at Carriker and Hill made me feel sad
2 busts in a row. That really hurt.
Makes me feel a little better seeing Matt Leinhart, Kentwan Balmer, Manny Lawson and Lawrence Jackson up there. At least we weren’t the only ones screwing up.
Two things about me will never change. I will always root for the Rams, and I will always root against the Niners.
That's the kind of feedback I was hoping for
I’m just trying to point out other FO’s failures and the data I uncover shows what a crap shoot the draft is. I’ll post round 2 tonight.

The 49ers
had EIGHT first round picks since 2006. How do you think they did?

Hawks fan here
Jennings- Bust & traded. Jackson- Bust & Traded. Curry- Busting & restructured. Okung looks the part but injury prone. Thomas looks like a hit…
Niners missed with Balmer & Lawson but Hit home runs with Staley & Davis & hit a game winning bottom of the 9th Grand Slam with Willis. Jury seems to be out on the other 3.
Cards – Ouch! Wells might be a decent back & they turned DRC into Kolb but the rest is pedestrian/bad.
I think Iupati is solid. Looks the part,
thought not as much as Okung. I do feel for Russell though, hope he stays healthy this year.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Niners fan here:
I wouldn’t call Joe Staley a home run. He’s finished two seasons in a row on IR and has been somewhat up-and-down when healthy. After his performance in the preseason this year, there’s talk brewing that he might need to be replaced in next year’s draft.
Also, Iupati is a stud.
We don't need 8 in the box. We have 52 in the box.
