St. Louis Rams Robert Quinn is inactive versus the Eagles today

PrintThe St. Louis Rams will leave their first-round pick on the sidelines today. Defensive end Robert Quinn is inactive today along with a host of other players, expected and otherwise. Replacing Quinn's speed in the defensive line rotation is Eugene Sims, a second-year player who had a strong preseason.
Quinn probably just wasn't ready to face an Eagles team that many have already penciled in to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this year. One mistake against Michael Vick could cost the Rams seven points...or more.
The Rams other inactives include: Michael Hoomanawanui, Danario Alexander, Austin Pettis, Jermale Hines, Jabara Williams and Tony Wragge.
Wragge's absence means Drew Miller is the Rams backup center.
The Eagles inactives include: QB Vince Young, RG Danny Watkins, SS Jaiquawn Jarrett, CB Curtis Marsh, G/C Julian Vandervelde, OT Winston Justice and DE Phillip Hunt.
With Watkins on the bench, both teams are sitting their first round picks today.

I am disappointed
But I understand it. I could see easily Quinn over commit and VIck burn him to the outside. Better to start his first game vs a pocket passer.
Quinn looked like crap in pre-season with exception of two plays versus the Chiefs 3rd stringers.
He managed one sack and a kick block against their 3rd stringers. This guys spent the bulk of the pre-season on the ground while playing 2nd and 3rd string players many that have long since been cut. Quinn did not even register a defensive stat in the final game against the Jags. NOTHING.
The only explanation is that Quinn is not ready to play pro fb yet. Not even in rotation. That sucks.
We may well have botched another 1st round pick ala Barron, Tye Hill, Adam Carriker and Jason Smith. Sucks don’t it?
Only real issue that concerns me with this
is that Eugene Sims is active. With a recent (albeit largely negligible) injury. Definitely need an answer on this in the post-game presser.

Avery is gone. Our only deep threat.
Me either. It means he's not ready to play pro fb even in limited rotation.
Remember, Quinn’s alledged tremendous speed and pass rushing skills were supposed to help free up Chris Long to actually get to the QB and make some tackles. Guess Long is still on his own.
It's one game...after a shortened pre season...
I’d rather Quinn sit one game against one of the best moving QB’s in the league since he would be more tempted to over commit in wrong situations. Quinn is not a bust because he’s sitting one game. Jeez. Give the kid a chance to learn!

That he hasn’t really played in about a year and a half and he’s 20 and he’s had about four weeks in the system. If it wasn’t Vick he’s chasing I would be upset but it is Vick. And does anyone k ow if were wearing blue or who’re unis today?

He was lousy in pre-season. Hit the ground about every other play. For now the coaches don't even want to give him limited work on certain passing downs.
It sucks. The man can’t do Chris Long any good while sitting on the bench inactive. BIG disappointment.

Something’s bad wrong here if we couldn’t use the supposedly fast and powerful pass rusher Quinn to spell Hall a few downs. I’m flabberghasted.

GRRRR! There is no reason for Quinn sitting except that he is not ready to play pro ball. And that sucks.
I didn’t like the Quinn pick and I like it a heckuva lot less now. My guess is that Corey Liuget, who I wanted instead of Quinn, is playing for his new team today. If Sims, who I don’t think is any good, plays ahead of our number 1 pick, something is bad wrong. This decision on Quinn bears a whole heck of alot of explaining. I thought he looked dreadfully lousy in pre-season aside from the one sack and kick block against the Chiefs 3rd stringers. The man was on the ground about every other play. You can’t make many sacks or tackles while lying on the turf. The coaches must have realized it too. Sucks!
