Philly Will Have a Blowout Victory, 45-14
Not in my opinion....but according to Kristian Winfield, correspondent for Bleacher Report, Michael Vick and the oft-mentioned Free Agency vacuum Philadelphia Eagles are going to have a scrimmage in Week 1. Here's what the he/she had to say:
'With Mike Vick at the helm, Philly can do no wrong.
The Eagles are going to have a field day with the St. Louis Rams. DeSean Jackson will showboat his way into the end zone several times, and Vick is going to turn the Rams defense into that of a practice squad.
St. Louis will do all they can, but the Eagles' offense will overpower them in every way possible.
Philly will have a blowout victory, 45-14.'
Here's a few things I do know...They CANNOT be a cohesive unit. They've had just as long as the rest of the NFL to get game ready. Our Defense obviously isn't getting the credit it deserves. They will not come into OUR HOUSE and put up 45. Kristian was born and raised in Philadelphia. Lastly, and most importantly, I WILL be writing Mr/Mrs Winfield a letter on 4pm EST on September 12th, and with the almost toxic levels of beer I'll probably have in my gullet, will not hold back my words.
Please share your thoughts...

She isn’t the only one to think that the team itself believes they have already won the game and has already moved on to the game after the ram’s which is our gain and their stupidity cause overconfidence more then anything will make a team lose.
there going to be the miami heat of the n.f.l...she already set them up to FAIL!
outside of there ’superfriends" corners, i dont see anybody else on that roster to garner the word “dream team”. look at the source where it came from? vince young!! cmon now! banin was a one yr wonder, they lost bunkley, our d-line just got upgraded. vicks goig to be running for his life! ronnie brown? wont last a whole season, thing is, all this sh*t talking from the eagles, thing is, there going to have to TRY? and stop the rams on offense! i just dont see it. the PHILADELPHIA HEAT….epic fail!!!

I can't seem to find the words to express how I feel about the Eagles!
So I won’t post on this thread. If I do, it would drip with feces, vulgarities, knuckle-chewing tidbits of ………..
They, along with just about every NFL commentator
need a healthy dose of reality. And I hope our team can provide them with that in Week 1
Football is the ultimate team game.
This isn’t basketball, where you can add an MVP and an All-Star and instantly become a title team. The Eagles are not the Miami Heat of football. If they added Adrian Peterson, Nnamdi Asomugha, Brian Cushing, Oshiomogho Atogwe, Terrell Owens, and Al Harris, then they would be the Miami Heat of football. Because football teams have more players than basketball teams (there’s your little-known fact for the day), 2 players (in the case of the Eagles, Asomugha and Rodgers-Cromartie) don’t make nearly as big a difference as 2 players in basketball.
And I say this because everybody is annointing them the champions of the NFL
solely because of these two signings.
Agreed!
If I’ve made any connection between the Eagles and the Heat (which I might’ve), it’s solely been that they’re ripping down big named free agents, but hope (ultimately) that it ends in disappointment…..not only for them, their fans, and the folks from ESPN and NFL Network that have already crowned them champs….
I hope they have the same demise, that is all…
they need to look no further than there own division...
ask washington how signing big name free agents panned out for them? remember when they had deion sanders, bruce smith, all kinds of hall of famers, and they fell flat on there asses!! i cant wait to see the eagles go down in flames!

I'll operate under the assumption
that a couple is two, a few is 3, and some/several is 4 or more. Assuming that Kristian’s rationale is anything like mine, she’s saying that DeSean Jackson will score 3 or more TD’s.
….I feel it important to note that he didnt get 2 receiving TD’s in a single game all of last season
….and he’s yet to join his team at practice
Anyone else...
sending this to the Rams defense?

I can't express how much I want the Rams to beat the Eagles week 1
and show the rest of the NFL that we are a serious team this year.
Sick of always telling people "next year", ready for next year to become this year.
First off the person that wrote this is a guy
Second they haven’t seen football since 2009. If this was the 09 rams versus the eagles of today then I could understand the prediction. Third the person that wrote this is so stupid that they said that Cedric Benson would run for 250 yards against the browns in these predictions.
2 men enter 1 man leaves. THOSE ARE THE RULES OF THUNDER DOME!
This Philly opener is gonna be a tester.
I think last year Philly would’ve beaten us as bad, or worse, than NO, KC, Detroit or Atl. Mike Vick would’ve run wild passing and running past Vobora, Gibson and Kehl. And their defense would have feasted on our lack of pass receivers and slaughtered SJax alone behind Goldbrick and Karney. We know Vick can’t be considered beat even if behind by 3-4 TD’s in the 4th quarter. Just ask the Giants. However, things have changed a bit. Sam should have good protection and a few decent targets. The Eagles can’t stack the box against SJax, cause we might just throw the ball to Kendricks or hand it to Williams or Norwood. And Dahl likely won’t be caved back in at the line of scrimmage like Goldbrick. Vick may not have all day to pass either with Quinn, Long, Robbins and Bannan pressuring him. Andy Reid is a good and crafty coach. But maybe Spags has learned from some bad experiences (especially with clock management) and maybe McD won’t restrict the offense to dink and dunk. To beat the Eagles, we have to take it to them and score early and often. And I mean TD’s too. If we start off leading 6-0 in the 1st quarter, forget it. Vick can erase that kind of deficit in one play. I hope we NEVER start off a game with scores of 6 or 13 points again. It’s gotta be 7, 14 or 21 to win. FG’s should be reserved to win close games in the last seconds only. It seems that the Eagles are already favored to win the NFC and go to the SB. But, I’d say we have a legitimate 1 chance in 3 of beating them. And if somehow we do win this game, lookout for STL. ps I predicted a final record of 9-7 for the Rams, but have long listed THIS game in the “L” category. I’d much rather lose the opener to the Eagles and later take ‘em down in the playoffs where they’ve been known to frequently falter.

I agree 100% with everything you just said..
Well put sir!
Two things about me will never change. I will always root for the Rams, and I will always root against the Niners.
I agree with the chances
And it might be a good thing to a face a test this strong in week 1. Get the offensive system in order, get the coaching issues worked out (clock management, trick call situational gaffes, etc.), get Quinn some time and push the pedal for a big season.

Indeed. I have no problem with strong initial challenge.
But, historically speaking, even an opening day blowout (which I’m not predicting) does not necessarily portend a season of doom. If I recall correctly, the year the Pats beat us in the SB they opened with a blowout loss in Buffalo. It’s best to work out the kinks early, gell into a solid team, and be in ferocious mode the last 5-6 games including the playoffs…
i agree 100%
playoff momentum is everything (see: 2008 Arizona Cardinals)

OK-I grudgingly agree to those thoughts-
BUT I STILL WANT TO STICK A RAM’S HORN UP THE EAGLES ASS!!!!
im not expecting a W here but they wont blow us away
i think we’re past those days
"Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds."
LOL
45. Mike Vick can do no wrong? So he WASN’T getting hit time after time against Minnesota because he failed to read a simple cornerback blitz EVERY TIME? Oh, and didn’t he struggle against the Pack? Sure, he can do no wrong.

If he could do no wrong they would have won the superbowl last year...
… nobody is perfect, this person is delusional. The Eagles are going to be tough, but if we can get consistent pressure on Vick our defense has a chance. Then it’s just up to our offense to pull through. That part worries me a bit.

Prediction - D.Jackson gets injured in the second quarter and continues his tradition of taking most of the season off
If they lose Jackson, they are screwed.
I think Maclin is actually a better player, but there is no way in the world he will be ready early in the season. I’ve been following his situation very closely, and about 6 months ago he had mono-like symptoms and they haven’t gone away yet. Without Jackson they will not have a good wide receiving corps.
I agree,
Maclin is the better receiver. I hope he gets well soon, it’s one thing to suffer an injury, but a severe illness that has lasted this long is even worse. Hopefully he won’t get into football shape until after week 1, but I would rather beat them at full strength ;)

Typically, week 1 is sloppy
for just about every team. Obviously, established teams perform well, but that doesn’t guarantee them victory. I’ll agree with Chop (and let’s face the facts)….the Eagles will perform well this year. I am pretty positive that they’ll win the NFC East. The Giants cant seem to retain anyone, and lose their #1 pick to injury. The Cowgirls are a complete enigma and although they should be solid, underperform time and time again. I live in DC, and for the others on this site that do, you can attest to the fact that the Skins are a complete debacle. No chance, not now, not in 3 years…
That doesn’t mean, though, that just because we finished second in the ‘oh-so-weak NFC West,’ that we’re a walkover. We’re a team on the rise, and a team that can play competitively on offense and defense. We’ve brought in some young talent, and some veteran free agents. To be honest, with the addition of McDaniels and the folks we’ve brought in this offseason, I don’t know what we’ll look like come week 1.
What I do know is that we’re improved. We’ve got a FAR superior offensive coordinator, who has helped select players to match his style of proven winning offense. We’ve filled/added depth to our defense, which has been pointed out will either provide much needed competition (LB), or immediately fill a void (S). Not to mention that the folks under Coach Spags have to better in their 2nd year in his regime.
Come hell or high water, I’m stoked. If this writer wants to tout the Eagles like the Miami Heat, let her/him. Don’t care…At this point, I’m ready for week 1, and only week 1, much like our team probably is….
….I hope we prove a lot of people wrong, and serve up a bunch of humble pie, in about 1 month
A big Bandwagon
Seems like the Eagles fans are drinking the same thing the Heat Fans did this past basketball season. The best team almost always wins.
"The only thing better than watching the Rams win is watching the Rams win with my wife."
I havent even looked at the entire NFL schedule for WK 1
but I doubt any team is able to put 45 points, simply because of the obvious…
Limited practice, new players still learning new schemes, and a general rustiness.
…good luck getting into OUR end zone half as many times in one game as you did all of last year, DeSean.
Their linebackers and safeties can't cover Steven and our tight ends.
Their defensive line won’t be able to get through our line too often. I think offensively we have the advantage over their defense. Good cornerbacks can shut down good receivers, but you don’t need 3 pro-bowl corners to cover our wideouts. Their biggest strength on defense is wasted on our biggest offensive weakness. They will have no answer for our biggest strength, which is putting TEs and RBs against LBs. And Steven will run through them. Offensively, we have an advantage.
Defensively, I think we are pretty much even with their offense. I worry about our run defense. In the pass game I think we will be fine. DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are extremely good players, but Maclin has been extremely sick for the past 6 months (which is quite worrisome) and Jackson will have had a short camp because he’s having a little hissy fit over his contract. And we have a very fine secondary. Bartell and Fletcher are two very good corners, and Quintin Mikell is a very good safety. We have the advantage when they pass, it just comes down to if we can stop their run game with Vick, McCoy, and Ronnie Brown.
I predict we win 27-21.
To your point
Ronnie Brown has proven to be a beast in the Wildcat, and although I realize he’s been injured and is aging, the Eagles could throw out some difficult looks if they had Vick, McCoy, and Brown on the field.
If Maclin and Jackson are on the field, that’s a pretty potent offense. I am glad, though, that we’ll be seeing them in week 1, and not 1/2 way through season when they’ve ironed out the kinks…
you just said it stop! our x-factor is...quinten mikell!
he knows the offense! hes going to be the x-factor, in lining everybody up in there right positions.

It's going to be a wild west show down
pleanty of mistakes on both sides, throw in some bad calls and its all a crap shoot.
So what happens when a player on this kid's dream team now plays for us?

…very insightful, and I’m inclined to side with him. They’ve got ‘speedy ass wide receivers’
Puts on homer glasses and drinks the Kool Aid
The Rams need Kendrick ready by week 1. The Eagles have nothing at LB and S. The Rams oline should be able to push the Eagles D line back and the Rams should just pound them with Jackson and Cadillac while having Kendricks or whoever sitting in the middle to keep the LBers from cheating. Basically the Dick Vermeil Chiefs era gameplan would destory the Eagles. The Rams should also throw at Rodgers-Cromarite if they have to and run at Aso if they get the chance.
The Eagles Oline is also a bit of a mess and the Rams pass rush will probably be the biggest strength on the team this season. As long as the Rams push Vick to the side he doesn’t like to go then the Rams can keep the Eagles from scoring on every play.
I don’t expect the Rams to win but I can see how they could possibly win.
The Rams will win because of the speed of our blitz.
This year, the D can do things that we could not do last year. We are ready to pull the trigger on the greatest D in the NFL. I’ll drink to that!!
bleacherreport
is the single worst sports website out there. its 70% homerism and 30% bad writing. for comparison, when it was first starting out i was offered a blog by them. this is not meant to be a compliment to me. they are wrong in their predictions so often, that a blowout predication is rather comforting if you ask me.
