What happens when injuries happen?
Another night of hard drinking, another post from me. What can I say? The muse is upon me. Anyways, I just figured with the couple of concussions and bone fractures we already have, I would go over what I think happens if we start loosing starters during the season. I know, scary shit, but I gotta get it out there, otherwise I'm the only one with these thoughts of torture. Missouri loves company : )
So, lets start with the most painful, so I can get it out of the way
Quarterback: For fuck's sake. I wake up crying with nightmares of Sam Bradford going down during the season. Who's our backup? A.J. Feeley. And as RamChop is more than happy to point out, he hasn't thrown a pass in the league since 2008, and his stats before then...... Less than impressive. Over his career he's got below a 70 QB rating, with 27 TDs and 29 INTs.... In other words, if Sammy boy goes down, our season goes with him.
Shit my pants factor: 10/10 ( full on bowel movement let loose in my pantaloons )
Runningback: Football gods be gentle. Pretty much the only man providing us a glimpse of hope over the last decade. What happens if big Jax goes down? Well, luckily the FO provided us a decent backup in Cadillac Williams, but he was also prone to injury early in his career. He's also no where near the caliber of RB SJ39 is. We do have Jerious Norwood now as well, so possibly the two of them combined could equal 1 SJAX? I think not. But at least we have something backing him up.
Shit my pants factor: 7/10 ( the worst shart imaginable )
O Line: I'll just cover them as a whole, kinda. What happens if one of our guards goes down? Well, we lose a solid pass protector on our young QBs blind side if it's Bell, and we lose the run blocker we signed for SJAX on the right if we lose Dahl. And our backup situation for both? Well at the moment, it's looking like either Adam Goldberg or Quinn Ojinnaka. They are both reportedly better pass blockers then run blockers, and neither as good as their respective starters. If we sign neither of them? Well it looks like Hank Fraley is backing up C as well as LG and RG. I wish mercy upon us all if more than one gets hurt. As far as our tackles go, we do have Renardo Foster, who proved himself a serviceable backup last year, but not nearly as talented as either of our young bucks. He can back up either position though, which makes me feel slightly better.
Shit my pants factor: 6/10 ( the shart you had in 8th grade gym class that dribbled down your leg )
[UPDATE: Rams signed Ojinn AND Goldberg. Solid depth at O line now. SMP factor reduced to 3/10.]
Wide Receiver: We all remember this fiasco from last year. Down goes Avery early, down goes Clayton as soon as he is Sam's favorite target. Seemed like all of our WRs had some kind of health issues. Well, we seem pretty deep this year, but the health issues remain. There are no starting receivers set in stone as of yet, but our own weekend_warrior55 seems to think it will be Gibson, who has been impressive thus far in the year, and MSW as our wideouts, with Danny running the slot. Seems like as good a guess as any to me. It's hard to guess what happens if any of these guys goes down, but I am worried about Amendola. He is tough as nails and made all 16 games last year despite taking a beating with 85 receptions, most of which were short or over the middle. If Danny boy goes down, we lose our most reliable wide receiver.... actually, our only reliable wide receiver as far as I can see. I'm sure at least 1 or 2 of the other guys in our WR core shines this year, but losing Danny would hurt.
Shit my pants factor: 4/10 ( my butt hole puckered, but I held the tides at bay )
Tight End: Well, looks like Bo Scaife might not have been too dumb a pick up if Illinois Mike can't stay healthy. A concussion is not a lasting issue, and is by no means an indication of "injury prone", but it can't be a good omen. Luckily we drafted Kendricks in the second round and he has looked entirely worth it as far as we can tell. McD loves his two TE sets though, so if we lose either Lance or big Mike, who does that leave us with? Bajema? Pffffff, child please. He is a blocker and nothing more. Fendi? I love his potential, but he hasn't shown the ability to put it together. If we lose either of these guys, the two TE set becomes much less of a threat as far as passing goes. It could be worse though. ( See QB/RB )
Shit my pants factor: 5/10 ( I may have pooed a little )
D Line: It looks like we have plenty of depth at DT, though losing Robbins would hurt. DT is not the biggest impact role, and we have plenty of backups that could keep us going. I'm not too worried about this position. At DE we have Long, Hall, Quinn, Selvie and Ah You. Seems solid to me. Losing Long could hurt pretty bad, but I think we could find a combination that could work pretty well. Feel free to tell me I'm an optimist/moron.
Shit my pants factor: 3/10 ( Sounded wet, but trust me, it's just a fart. )
Middle Linebacker: Nightmare central for our defense. Without James anchoring the middle and providing the leadership on this D, I am terrified. He is a stud, a leader and a solid all around linebacker. And his backup? Looks like Josh Hull. Never heard of him? Thats because he was a 7th round draft pick last year who was credited with 1 tackle. My goodness.
Shit my pants factor: 9/10 ( That one time you had the flu real bad and you thought you only had to throw up..... I wish I only had to throw up. )
Outside Linebacker: I'm pretty sure last year was a nightmare, so how could it be worse? I've seen a few people saying Vobora deserves a chance to start, but other than exceeding his Mr. Irrelevant expectations (which is to say, NO expectations), he has been nothing but a sub par starter, and a possible backup. Looks like this year our starting outside linebackers will be between Diggs, Diles and Poppinga. Looks like Poppinga has been labled "injury prone" but I don't believe that. Anyways, if one of these guys goes down, we have a solid backup. If 2 go down? Well..... Not so much. Vobora can sub in, but I'm not sold on his ability at all. And Chamberlein needs to be cut, if he hasn't been already. Which leaves us with Jack and Shit on the outside, and Jack left town.
Shit my pants factor: 6/10
Corners: We've got Ron Ron. Solid like the rock of Gibraltar, when he's healthy. Fletcher came up in a big way last year, and I would love to see him do that again. If one of them goes down? Well, Murphy just fractured his ankle ( I think ), Al Harris suffered a big injury last year and was on the down slope before that anyways, and then we have Justin King, who has injury troubles on top of little to no production. Yea, we've got some weak sauce brewing at CB, and you don't bring that weak sauce to the Mexican market.
Shit my pants factor: 7/10
Safeties: We've got Craig Dahl ( holy shit, I just realized we have two starters named Dahl ) and Quintin Mikell. Dahl probably shouldn't be a starter because of his coverage skills, but I like him anyways and he should do fine in our system for now. Mikell is an all-pro safety, and even though he is 30 he doesn't have much wear on the tires. If one of them goes down? We've got James Butler and Darian Stewart to back them up. Butler is a vet who has proven useful when healthy, and Stewart had his flashes when he played. I feel good about our safety depth.
Shit my pants factor: 2/10 ( Nothing to worry about. Just a rather loud flatulent. )
All injuries scare the crap out of me and I feel like having a stroke whenever I think about one of our starters going down. As per my last post, feel free to tell me I'm wrong and I will ignore you. Just kidding, I have nothing better to do than respond to comments when I'm hungover, which I will most certainly be tomorrow.... well technically today whenever I wake up.

I forgot again!
FUCK THE NINERS!
Two things about me will never change. I will always root for the Rams, and I will always root against the Niners.
Solid piece, I agree with you on most of them.
But tone down the cussing next time.

Yea this too damn long.
I didn’t really notice when I posted it. I’ll try to shorten my next drunken scriptures haha

Most of the posts on here are too short
So if I read a piece that’s too long, I don’t complain. I’d rather it be too long than too short because that a least means (usually) the person is putting more work into their piece.
I don’t think this is too long by the way.

I didn't think the post was too long either
I was just trying to think of a way to keep you out of swear word purgatory.

Thanks! :)
Oh yeah and A.J. Feeley is the reincarnation of Brett Favre, he will be fine starting.

hahahahaha
maybe favre’s last season. 11 TDs 19 INTs or something like that? I could see Feeley putting up those kind of numbers as a starter

It's all scary but apparently part of God's plan
Look how Warner worked out. We can buy replacements but if Sam goes down I’m done for the season.
Josh Hull
got 1 tackle last year ?
He thought he went down in the preseason and put on IR…
"For Better or for Worse; 'Till Death Do Us Part"
GO RAMS !!!
NFL.com credits him with a tackle.
Regardless, he only played in 1 game before going down. James can’t get hurt, or our defense becomes weak sauce.

That's gotta be a mistake.
Josh Hull definitely tore his ACL before playing in any regular season game.
Although now that I look it up I see that he apparently got the injury after week 1.
I would have bet my life he was injured before even playing in a preseason game.
And you would be dead.
hahaha

Ahahahahaaha
I love the grading scale. Very detailed lol. What would a 1 and an 8 be on the scale

Hmmm...
1/10 would be a squeaker.
8/10 would be when you have to sprint to the toilet and you thought you made it…. until you look down at your pants.

hahaha, that would be a good guess!

Aside from the crude language, excellent post.
You nailed Feeley, Goldberg and Vobora for what they are worth (practically nothing). The beauty of 2011 is that for the 1st time in years and years we seem to be fielding actual NFL calibre starters instead of backups. Many of these guys have never been on a 3-13, 2-14 or 1-15 ball club. They expect to win. This is not your Bulger, Barron, Incognito, McMicheals, Karney, Burton, Robinson, Darby team….

i got a 7/10 for laughing at that.
