The WR Debate Continued:

The WR Debate Continued:

It seems that TSTers including myself are infatuated with what is going to happen with all of our WR’s currently in the fold. Searching the blogs I found some interesting tid-bits from Will @RamsHeard. I borrowed his stats which came from PFF.

Catch percentage

Receivers
Danny Amendola: 74.6%
Brandon Gibson: 61.6%
Danario Alexander: 60.6%
Mark Clayton: 60.5%
Donnie Avery (2009): 51.1%
Laurent Robinson: 49.3%
Mardy Gilyard: 40%

Tight Ends
Billy Bajema: 73.7%
Daniel Fells: 73.2%
Michael Hoomanawanui: 61.9%
Fendi Onobun: 50%

Just based on dropping the ball it looks like Avery, Robinson, Gilyard, and Onobun will be packing their bags. That would leave us with:

WR                                                          TE

Pettis                                                      Bajema
Salas                                                       Fells
Amendola                                              Hoomanawanui
Gibson                                                    Kendricks
Alexander
Clayton

I actually like the looks of this roster. Unfortunately half of them have blown out a knee, so maybe we move the ball droppers to the practice squad. I would rather they get some undrafted FA with good hands vs. keeping them on the practice squad. Maybe adding a proven WR from free agency, if it ever is allowed to happen.

I have to believe our offense is going to have a great year with Pettis/Salas/Kendricks as proven red zone threats (college). I especially like them because the stats show they are still getting better. These ESPN stats speak for themselves.

I wanted to run a comparison between what our 3 highest percentage WR did in college, vs. the new guys:

I don’t think it was a mistake to draft these kids at all. Now that Sam has a playbook, I’m wondering if these new hires have been invited down to Texas for some practice!

You may be asking yourself right about now, so what’s the point of this post? I was hoping that RamChop would put up $1000.00 prize for whoever guesses the final WR roster correctly (jk).

Well stats don’t always tell all, but you can’t help but think these new guys being fed the ball from Sam, are going to light it up if the O-line gives him time to throw. I hope McD gets Sam to pitch the pig faster than last year. What’s your final WR roster prediction?
