I like it

I think Gibson is gone and DX could take his spot by Donnie. Also you have ? marks by FB but I think Uh Oh will fill that role when they need it. I like that Pettis is by #1 because I think he could develop into one.

Kendricks and Uh Oh

will probably both be switching in and out. Both are capable. Love it!

I hate to see Gibson gone, after giving him a years experience at the #1 spot

He’s gotta be worth something, young reciever with experience like that? What if we traded him for a 4th-5th round pick?

by PCarn on May 2, 2011 9:08 AM CDT up reply actions

Gibson gone....

I agree with Gibson being gone. I think he will be traded for a back up safety or line backer

by ChrisL951 on May 2, 2011 9:22 AM CDT up reply actions

Idk about the value of him, he's not that good

But we could try, anythings possible I guess

Maybe Salas moves to H back

or they go to an empty back field, or a single back

by chndlr54 on May 1, 2011 10:19 PM CDT reply actions

We will probably do a lot of single back stuff

but Kendricks and Hoomanawanui can paly H-back, no doubt.

chances are...

that we move robert quinn to defensive end and move james hall to defensive tacklethen the line will be effing amazazing

by ramat on May 2, 2011 3:28 AM CDT reply actions

Hall can play DT on passing plays,

but he would get eaten up on running plays. I suspect Hall stays as the starting DE, but shifts to DT on passing plays, with Quinn coming in to play DE on the passing plays.

Probrably only keep 6 WR's on the roster

You have 7 wide receivers and I think they will keep only 6 as in years past. I would think Alexander will stay because he fits the mold of the 2 guys we just drafted and has a much higher upside which means Gibson and Gilyard are gone. If they dress 6 WR’s they might keep 4 TE’s as in years past and keep Onobun. Why would you give up on a guy you knew was a project to begin with. I still think he has tremendous potential based on the small sampling we saw. I Would be interesting to see how many WR’s McDaniels dressed last year for Denver.

No fullback

might mean an extra wide receiver spot in McDaniels’ offense. That would make a lot of sense.

....along with the TE/H-Back Kendricks, or Double TE

If they were going to play a FB they would’ve kept the good one they had in Karney. He wasn’t expensive, so that roster move tells.

A lot of subpar players I've been complaining about are gone and I predict more on this list will be too.

First of all, Sam has NO credible backup. Feeley hasn’t tossed an NFL pass since 2007.

Toston is gone. UFL talent level.

Robinson, Gilyard, Gibson, Onobun, and the much impaired DX are goners.

Yes. We have no one at RG. Goldberg and Greco are not NFL caliber players. What’re we gonna do about that now that the draft’s over? Plug one of our many many TE’s in at OG?

Fells is gone. he just don’t know it yet.

If Quinn’s as good as people think he’ll start and supplant the aged Hall immediately.

Gibson, Scott, Ah You are gone with the wind. Looks like there’ll have to be someof that playing out of position stuff between Hall and Quinn.

Not one single LB outside of JL is an NFL worthy player let alone good. Pick ‘em, they’re all equally bad. We’ll give up a 1000 1st downs on short passes and outside runs thanks to these clowns.

There is no one to replace Atog who’s remotely as talented.

So all in all things look pretty cool, except we have no #1 WR, both our OG’s are no good, we have no decent OLB’s, we’re missing an effective DT on oneside and Robbins is aged on the other, and once again SJax is a one man show and one year older.

If I were opposing teams I’d stack the D-line and blow by Bell and Goldberg to stuff SJax or sack Sam. On offense, run up the gut and blow out Gibson. And of course with no OLB’s all were extremely vulnerable to outside runs, sweeps and 5-yard pass completions. Good WR’s will scorch Atog’s replacements.

Yep. Other than having more holes than swiss cheese, our line-up looks pretty good.

LOL

actually its not funny, but you are very correct.

The thing that worries me the most

is that on defense are the glaring holes at OLB and Safety. We have the toughest schedule this year and have basically cardboard cutouts (courtesy of Ramchop) just sitting there. With the amount of talent that we are playing this year plan on a ton of 5-7 yard out passes and passes in the flat going for 15-20 yards bc we dont have an olb and I see a ton of deep passes over the top against Dahl and I guess Stewart? Hopefully, Stewart proves me wrong and us all wrong, but by going all out in the draft from rounds 2-4 our offense better be 10 times better than last year or it was a failure as Marvin Austin and Mason Foster were still available.

by richter122 on May 2, 2011 8:27 PM CDT up reply actions

Hmm...

DX has more upside than any other receiver on the roster. He will be here until his leg explodes, which hopefully won’t happen, but I’m not holding my breath.

Onobun won’t be gone because a project player doesn’t get cut after a year to learn. He has extraordinary upside, and I would love to see him split out wide.

We have some linebackers with potential, but I don’t feel confident in any of the OLB. Diggs is too old to start and Grant is a good player that lacks sideline to sideline speed.

Atog was never a great cover corner, and good receivers didn’t have too much trouble burning him. I will definitely miss his leadership and big-play potential, however.

Our offensive line isn’t as bad as a lot of people thing. We could use an upgrade at OG, but our line, if healthy, has decent potential. If we can stretch the field, even a little bit, the line won’t have to worry about blocking 9 defenders every play. Here’s to hoping!

by WastedPotential on May 19, 2011 7:10 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't think Fendi can play outside

I don’t kow if he can play on the end either, though. His blocking and hands were both below NFL quality last year. They haven’t invested too much in him so far so I can see where they might make room for someone else if he hasn’t made big improvements. I actually think he’d be safe on PS because he has no production.

You are so right about the ability to stretch the field. That “balance” would help everybody on the Offense. I hear about no YAC and I think guys are forgetting that the Defense is so close to the line because the lack of deep theat.

by CoachConnors on May 23, 2011 11:38 AM CDT up reply actions

DX gone? Why?

He looked like he had some talent in limted action last year, no? The only big WR on the roster at 6’ 5", and he says he’s healthy now. If Robinson, Gilyard, Gibson and DX are all gone, does that mean you think Avery stays? That’s a lot of last year’s WRs to be cut (implication is they will go with almost all new ones?)

I think this is about the right schedule for knee recovery (although whether he really is healthy or not is another question that we’ll have to see the answer to in camp). And I think Avery might be serviceable but still a year away fom real recovery. It takes a year of rehab and a year of playing before someone can truly be all the way back.

by CoachConnors on May 23, 2011 11:32 AM CDT up reply actions

No FB this year. H-Back is going to be Kendricks

I don’t know that any of the other guys can line up in the backfield with effectiveness. Anyway, that’s my prediciton on who will play the spot.
