With all of the talk of possible picks for the Rams I thought I would just say what i expect from them. This is only round one and i will be posting for rounds 1-4. There are so many people to talk about so ill just get started.
Julio Jones- Probably the most talked about prospect that has been paired with the Rams's 14th pick. Since his stellar combine performance he has been considered a top 10 pick by most experts. Whether or not we get him is a whole different story but my expectations for him are that he will turn out to be a #1 reciever, but not right away. Based on his high draft pick, he will be a starter, but not a season like Sam Bradford where he just shows up and seems to be a seasoned veteran. In my eyes it will take him a year or two to really show his true skill and potential.
Corey Luiget- I would say Luiget is very likely to be a Ram given Julio Jones doesnt fall to us. I think this is the best pick because he is the biggest need aside from OLB or OG. Defensive end is a big need, but we have Chris Long who had many years left and we can wait until a later round, FA, or next years draft. On the other hand defensive tackle we have a guy in Fred Robbins who doesnt have many great years left so we need someone to fill that hole. He is going to be a very good DT and will make up for Fred Robbins if/when he declines this coming season. He is my first choice if we dont get Julio Jones.
Aldon Smith- I have seen a lot of Aldon Smith even though he only played two years at Mizzou. He has very good quickness off the line and good hands to shed blocks which can make for a devastating combo. I see him as more of a pass rusher put that doesnt mean he is usless against it. With him and Chris Long, all we will need is a DT and we can get him next year or in FA and that would make a devastating D-line which i would like to see. This would be my second choice if we dont go for Luiget.
Mike Pouncey- Mike Pouncey is probably the best guard in the draft and would be our starting guard from day one until the day he retires. He has the power to push people back in the run and protect the QB in a pass situation.
Stephen Paea- The strongest player ever to enter the draft would also be a good choice for the Rams. With his strength he obviously has a great bull rush and is a big run stopper. He can go against the pass but he is a little short which the only problem that would make is batting down a ball. But it also gives him leverage. If he is available in the second round and we dont already have Luiget, this is the way I think we must go.
