2011 NFL Draft: Rams select Baylor CB Mikail Baker

Stay connected for news and updates

The St. Louis Rams used their first of three seventh-round picks to select Baylor CB Mikail Baker. A special teams standout in college, he was one of the school's all-time leading returners. Just in time for an NFL that devalued return men thanks to a rule change.

Baker ran a 4.41 forty at his March pro day. He's 5'11" and weighs 191 lbs. He was projected as an undrafted free agent before his pro day, which bumped him into late round consideration, a la the Rams.

Baker will battle last year's seventh round pick, Alabama CB Marquis Johnson for a spot on the 53-man roster. Johnson was on the practice squad last year, before an injury ended his season completely. Baker's best shot at cracking the roster will be on special teams, where his speed could be a real asset.

With two more picks, everyone wonders whether or not the Rams will take a running back. Noel Devine and Derrick Locke are both on the board still, as it Anthony Allen
