Irony alert: Marshall Faulk to announce the St. Louis Rams second round pick

Soon-to-be Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk will announce the St. Louis Rams second-round pick at the 2011 NFL Draft this year.

Marshall Faulk will announce the St. Louis Rams second-round pick at Radio City Music Hall next Friday. The NFL is inviting franchise icons to announce picks for the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft this year.

Faulk will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year, in August. His induction helped the Rams secure a spot in the pre-season Hall of Fame Game. Now, Faulk will be on-stage announcing the team's second round pick. There's a small bit of irony in the Rams being so closely tied to Faulk this year after Faulk made some public comments accusing Spagnuolo and Devaney of being less than willing to acknowledge the Rams past, mostly because of some decisions to move photos of Faulk and the Greatest Show on Turf team at Rams Park.

More ironic could be Faulk announcing a new Rams running back with their second-round pick. Many believe that the Rams could target Illinois RB Mikel Leshoure, Va Tech's Ryan Williams or Oklahoma State's Kendall Hunter with their second-round pick this year. That player would complement and possibly replace, eventually, Steven Jackson, just like Jackson replaced Faulk.

In the picture Marshall

looks like he was celebrating 4/20 hardcore. Stoned out of his mind?

He's trying to remember where he left his keys.

Check the fridge Marshall.

I'm being a little cynical maybe-

It seems to me that Marshall wanted the Rams miss him and need him when he left, but instead we cheered for SJax and found a new hero. Ego is hard thing to let go of as Sugar Ray Leonard can attest. “losing the fight was not nearly as painful as my opponent getting more cheers than me when he entered the ring, and in my own home town”
Time and teams move on, and the heros that are lucky just fad away.

disagree

Marshall should have a statue in front of the dome…like Jordan…without Marshall there is no GSOT…funny how easily we forget things. Rams shoulda hired Marshall as GM instead of Billy D

I didn't forget the GSOT. I just said his time had passed, pass the baton.

He has made a few statements (correctly) about how downtrodden the Rams were. Never has been a cheerleader when the Rams needed one.

Nothing can take away my luv for the Rams in the GSOT time

Holt,Bruce,Warner, and especially Faulk have a special place in my closet (their jerseys) but I have to admit i did buy a Jackson and Bradford jersey so I have moved on. I’m all for retiring Faulks # and having the guys I mentioned hanging on banners but I think Spags is trying to build on his team now. He wants to change the atmospehre of this franchise and not have a “Remember when” mindset. Having Faulk read out the pick is great, great for him and great for or franchise.

I've moved on too

I’ve finally come to grips with the fact that we’ll never have a defensive line or linebackers again.
If, however, any Ram units wants to emulate The Fearsome Foursome by playing with the guts and determination to WIN, then I’m all for it. GSOT too, I’m not picky.

OMG what if he uses this opportunity to un-retire and tells the world the Rams select Marshall Faulk RB

LOL…….Jokingly of course but wouldnt that be something.
