With the 16th pick in the TST Community Mock Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars, represented by stgeorgie, select: Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson.
stegoergie gives us his reasoning:
Fortunate that Bowers falls to them due to injury concerns, the Jags pick a guy who is by far BPA at #16 and fills a major need. I'd say most Jags fans would be ecstatic with this scenario. Other options for this spot include DEs Ryan Kerrigan and JJ Watt, QBs Jake Locker and Christian Ponder or a DB. If not for Bowers, it's likely the Jags would also consider a much coveted trade down, to pick Locker/Ponder/unnamed-DB. However, if they're lucky, Ponder will be there in round two. Garrard is an adequete QB, but they'll be looking for someone who can sit for a year and take them to the next level soon after.
I think this pick really depends on whether or not you think Da'Quan Bowers knee isn't in shambles. If you think it is, any first round pick is hard to justify on the guy. If you think it isn't, well, then Bowers represents great value here. He was once thought of as a top three pick, and if he really slides this far, you know there is going to be some team that takes a chance on him. I think this is a BPA pick, and a good one at that.
The Patriots and Abrantes are now on the clock!
